The Kennedy Middle School 7th and 8th grade football team’s goal is to develop the skills needed to play football at the high school level. The coaches are dedicated to developing the total player to be the best athlete they can be.
Boys Basketball
The 7th and 8th grade basketball team develops boys to prepare themselves to play basketball at the high school level. The coaches are dedicated to developing the total player to be the best athlete and basketball player they can be.
Wrestling
The focus of the Wrestling team is to develop the skills needed to wrestle at the high school level. The coaches are dedicated to developing the total player to be the best athlete they can be. All grade levels are encouraged to try out.
Girls Basketball
The 7th and 8th grade basketball team develops girls to prepare themselves to play basketball at the high school level. The coaches are dedicated to developing the total player to be the best athlete and basketball player they can be.
W.E.B.
WEB, or Where Everybody Belongs, is a middle school orientation and transition program that welcomes sixth-graders and makes them feel comfortable throughout their first year of their middle school experience. Each student is assigned to an eighth grader who will serve as their mentor.

Homework Club
Homework Club is open to all students who need help with an assignment or those who need quiet time to finish school work. Students must bring their work with them. There is no fee or need to sign up.
Before school sessions are from 8:00 am until the bell at 8:28 am, Tuesday-Friday. After school sessions are from 2:45-3:45 Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Students may leave early when they finish.�There is no after school session on half days.
Ski and Snowboard Club
This club is open to all Lake Shore students and their families. Our typical club season runs the months of January and February with trips to Mt. Holly Ski Resort. We generally take one school bus with a minimum requirement of 25 participants per trip and a maximum of 50. Parents are always welcome to attend and encouraged to participate.

Cross-Country/Track & Field
Cross Country: This sport is open to ALL 6th-8th graders. No running experience is needed to join. Every athlete is able to attend competitive races that range from 1.5 to 3.1 miles.
Track: This sport is open to ALL 7th-8th graders. No running experience is needed to join. Athletes will participate in meets where they can compete in three different events. Events include running races (sprinting, mid-distance, and long-distance) and field events (long jump, high jump, and shot put).
Volleyball
Kennedy’s 7th and 8th grade volleyball team focuses on the basic fundamentals of the game and teaching the girls how to bump, set, spike, and serve. Mr. Pellerito and Ms. Black work with the girls closely to get them ready for playing high school volleyball and beyond through weekly practices and games with other middle schools in the surrounding area.
Robotics Team
Our team is made up of 7th and 8th grade students. We design, build and program robots, apply real world math and science concepts, along with developing problem solving, organizational, and team building skills. This type of innovative thinking greatly increases students motivation to seek education and careers in STEM fields.
Robotics meets every Tuesday and Thursday from 3:30-4:30 until May

Yearbook Club
This club is open to all KMS students. Students experience print media publishing from photography, computer design, and writing creatively that combine to create a yearbook that captures the memories of our school year.

Student Council
The KMS Student Council is comprised of students in 6th-8th grade who work together to plan events and spirit days throughout the school year to promote positive school spirit and Clipper Pride! Our Student Council is responsible for such events as Pep Rallies, Homecoming Float Decoration, Spirit Week, Cocoa Cafe, and our Annual Talent Show!

School Store
The Clipper School Store operates daily and offers our students the opportunity to purchase small Kennedy gear, school supplies, and fun trinkets throughout the school year. The store is staffed by students and items are chosen to sell based on student interest. Proceeds from the school store are used to purchase items for the student body. Most recently, we were able to purchase 40 new ebooks for our virtual library!

Heroes Club
Heroes Club is a club any student can join to promote community in and outside of our school. We focus on anti-bullying and random acts of kindness. Students work to improve the school climate of being more accepting to others. Heroes club meets every Early Release Wednesday at 8:00

Positivity Project
The Positivity Project is a district-wide initiative that is utilized to empower our youth to build positive relationships and become their best selves. Students and staff participate in weekly lessons that teach 24 Character Strengths and acknowledge the Other People Mindset. #PositivityInAction
KMS Band
This cocurricular course is designed to give the student an enriching and diverse instrumental music education. There are multiple performance opportunities for students in a variety of settings. Our daily objective is to foster and promote musical growth through the playing of an instrument by students. No experience on any instrument is necessary; you will learn everything you need to know in class. Plus there are trips! The band regularly goes to Kalahari, Chicago, and more!

National Junior Honor Society
The National Junior Honor Society is an international student organization that consists of chapters in middle schools. The NJHS was founded by the National Association of Secondary School Principals, and today has chapters in the United States, other U.S. territories, and around the world. Membership is based on academics and students are invited to apply for membership as either a 7th or 8th grade student.

Eco Club
The intent of this program is to encourage students to participate in activities which help them learn about preserving natural resources, protecting the environment, and promoting energy efficiency and savings. The activities include create and maintain a garden of native Michigan plants, create and maintain a habitat for native Michigan birds, running the KMS recycling program, implement and maintain the KMS energy efficiency program, maintaining the KMS courtyard and pond, and maintaining the KMS gardens. In addition, this club works to maintain KMS’s official Michigan “Evergreen” School status, as part of the Michigan Green School Program (Public Act 146).

Bowling Club
Bowling Club offers students in 6th-8th grade the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of bowling while spending time with friends and classmates for six weeks each fall. Students walk together to Lake Shore Lanes and bowl two league style games each week.
