Karakia for the Classroom

Karakia tīmatanga are used to open or start a gathering for the day or a particular meeting, often joining the participants in unity of purpose. Karakia whakamutunga then close or end the gathering, releasing people to return to everyday life.

In the classroom, they could be used at the start and end of the day (like bookends holding our learning together), or to open and close a particular discussion of a more serious nature.
