9 Dots’ Impact
“I always get asked ‘What is the best thing about coding?’ and I say it’s SEL. Students learn how to persevere, develop a growth mindset, embrace debugging, and believe in themselves.”
Sylvan Park, Principal Bennet

Debugging Mindset
How does developing a Debugging Mindset support students’ SEL skills?
Throughout our K-6th curriculum, we embed slides that directly practice SEL.
We do not include these slides in every lesson, but they can be very helpful strategies for every coding class.
Mindset Message
Our curriculum supports students in building their Self-Awareness skills through Mindset Messages.
Mindset Messages encourage students to practice positive affirmations that will develop their Self-Efficacy.
Grit Minutes
Our curriculum supports students in building their Self-Management and Self-Awareness skills through Grit Minutes.
Grit Minutes encourage students to explore challenges, try on their own, and develop their confidence as they problem-solve independently.
Partner Work
Our curriculum supports students in building their Social-Awareness and Relationship Building skills through Partner Work.Partner Work encourages students to collaborate with others when solving difficult challenges and reviewing their code.
