Policy Number Section: 4:80

Recommended approval for Building, Life Safety, and Educational Adequacy Assessment by Arcon.

Long Range Facility Planning

April 19, 2016

41 of 65

Facility Assessment

  • ARCON will examine the existing site and building components such as roof, walls, pavement, windows, doors, HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems. They will evaluate the condition of the components, estimate remaining useful life, and provide opinions of cost for the eventual replacement.

42 of 65

Life Safety Survey

  • As part of the required 10 year life safety process for the state of Illinois, ARCON will survey all portions of Lindop school including the site, building envelope, interiors, and infrastructure, and identify all items we consider either fire code violations or building code violations, as well as recommendations based on safe practice.

43 of 65

Educational Adequacy Assessment

  • An education adequacy assessment differs from a physical one in that it shows us how well the facility supports the educational program. We will review the site, as well as school capacity, and security and safety issues. We will also review classroom size, circulation, accessibility and more. These will be compared with state standards, and recommendations for improvements will be brought forward, along with opinions of cost.

44 of 65

Cost for Assessments

  • $8,060 for each of the three phases of the work; however, due to the efficiencies obtained by doing all three studies at one time ARCON’s fee is reduced by 25%.

  • Total cost $18,135
