  • A-G vs non A-G: All CVCS students are taking classes that meet both high school graduation and college entrance requirements during 9th and 10th grade. We highly encourage students to remain on the A-G path throughout high school. Why? Watch this video! See the differences in paths here. Missed our information session? See the slide deck and recording here.
    • Switching to the non A-G path? Schedule an appointment with your counselor (they should have sent you an email) and add a career exploration, high school CTE or college class!
  • CaliforniaColleges.edu is the state’s college and career planning platform, and we are now a partner district! All students (9-12th) should have signed on to CaliforniaColleges.edu using Google Single Sign-On in March. Please see the tutorial here.
    • April/May Goal: Complete the Interest Profiler Career Assessment and favorite 3 careers. Here’s how!
  • Bulldog Bound is Fresno State’s guaranteed admissions program. It means that high school students from partnering schools (Yosemite Valley and Monarch River Academy!) who meet the minimum California State University requirements are guaranteed a spot at Fresno State after they graduate. Find out more and sign up here!

Counseling Corner

Do you want to take a college class in Summer and/or Fall 2026? Start at the college’s Concurrent Enrollment page. Create a CCC Apply account and then apply to the college. The student will receive an email with their college student ID within 24-48 hours. Follow the instructions on the college’s website.

  • Families are responsible for completing the Request for College Classes survey when taking a college course and for uploading any necessary forms for signatures.
  • Families are also responsible for uploading a student’s Proof of Enrollment to the POE survey once the student is registered for the college course, AND if a student drops a college course.
  • Please refer to the CVCS Guide to Concurrent Enrollment, which includes a link to the “Concurrent Enrollment 101 for Families” slide deck, along with all updated information and resources. You can find it on our website under High School > Academic > College Courses.
  • Tuition is waived for high school students. However, most but not all colleges waive other fees. Please check the CVCS Guide to Concurrent Enrollment. It will note any colleges that charge or require a waiver for fees.
  • Need extra support in the process? Families can always schedule a one-on-one meeting with their counselor! Counselor Appointment links can be found in any Counseling Corner Newsletter, counselor email signature lines, or in the CVCS Contact List.
