New Student Housing Steps

This document will review the steps in the New Student Housing Application process from submitting your application, requesting roommates, and receiving your assignment! The entire process is managed in MyHousing via Cardinal Students.

The following links will also provide you with helpful information on the assignments process:

Enrollment Deposit

Confirming your attendance at the University by submitting your Enrollment Deposit is the first step towards on-campus housing! Once you have paid the enrollment deposit and the deposit has been processed, the housing application will be made available to you in MyHousing via Cardinal Students. Please note that it takes approximately 1-2 business days after making the deposit for your account to update and the application to become available. There is not a separate housing deposit.

Please note:

*Enrollment Deposit = $300 Commuter Status

*Enrollment Deposit = $500 Residential Status

Submit the Housing Application

Once you have paid the $500 enrollment deposit and the housing application is available for you to submit in MyHousing, be sure to review each section of the application.

Section 1: Residence Hall & Dining Services Agreement

The Residence Hall & Dining Services Agreement is a review of the University housing terms and conditions. Your signature confirming you understand and agree to the terms and conditions of the Agreement is required on the application. Be sure to review all the details in this document.

Section 2: Personal Information

This section will ask you to address various statements about your living style. The information in this section will be used to match you with a roommate.

Section 3: Emergency Contact

This section will record your emergency contact. If you are under the age of 18 years when the application is submitted, the parent/legal guardian you enter as your Emergency Contact will receive an email to review and sign the Residence Hall & Dining Services Agreement.

Section 4: Living Request (i.e. Room Type)

Use this section to rank your preferred room type.. New freshman have the option of ranking the following room types:

  • Single (Regan and Ryan Halls, limited availability)
  • Double (Regan, Ryan, and Flather Halls)
  • Triple (Regan, Ryan, and Flather Halls)
  • Double with Bath (Centennial Village)

New Transfers will have the option to also rank

suite-style and apartment-style housing.

Submit the Housing Application

Once you have completed sections 1-4 and submitted the application, your application will be complete! Housing Services will begin reviewing applications after the May 15th priority deadline. Be sure to check your University email account frequently for relevant updates on your application.

Roommate Matching

Housing Services will complete an initial roommate verification process based on what students submitted in their housing applications. Students will receive an email to their University email account when it’s time to view their roommate group or respond to a pending request, log into MyHousing and select “New Student - Roommate Matching” in the left-hand menu of the screen. Then click “Select Roommates” from the menu. In the next screen, select the Fall 2024 term.

New students will NOT use the “Select a Room/Suite” option. This will NOT be active for you in this process.

In this section, you will be able to review your roommate group and review any pending requests. Pending requests will include any requests you have sent to another student and any requests that have been sent to you. Below is a screenshot of the Roommate Request Summary section in MyHousing :

Below is an example of MyHousing with a fully matched roommate group between Stacy Lynn Cardinal and Robin Robbins (our fictional students). Everyone in the roommate group needs to see “Your Roommate group is fully matched” by June 14th. Do not leave requests pending. Touch base with your matched roommate(s) and make sure they do not have any pending requests.

Room Assignment & Dining Plan

By July 1st, you will receive an email to your University email account announcing that room assignments are available in Myhousing. At this time, you can log into MyHousing and view your room assignment and roommate information.

All residential freshman are required to participate in the Open Access Dining Plan. Housing Services will automatically add the Open Access dining plan to the accounts of students who did not self-select the plan in MyHousing by the time assignments are announced.

More information on 2024-2025 Dining Plans is available on the Dining Services website: https://dineoncampus.com/catholic/first---second-year-students.

Students are encouraged to contact their roommates and begin planning for move-in and the upcoming semester!
