‘Greenwashing’= pretending something is environmentally friendly when it is not.

Adani paid £4 million for the Science Museum’s ‘Green Energy’ gallery. Adani is one of the biggest coal companies in the world. The Adani company mines coal and burns it in coal-fired power stations, a major factor causing climate change. Coal power also contributes to asthma, cancer and heart and lung diseases.

Hannah Fry felt it was wrong to allow Adani to have influence over the Science Museum when it is contributing to huge environmental harm. Moreover, she is concerned that the SM is NOT being honest about how much damage fossil fuel companies do when they accept money from them.

When a company pretends their actions are environmentally friendly, but they are not, is called ‘greenwashing’.
