School Absences and Tardies

Please call the school or email using the link found on the newsletter if your child is absent or tardy as soon as possible (no later than 9am). It is essential that we can account for all students. If we cannot account for a child, we are required to contact our Truancy Officer with the Woburn Police Department. When your child will be late to school, escort your child to the main office to sign-in. This allows the student to go directly to class and not miss any more instruction.

13 of 46

Change in dismissal plan

  • Send a note to school with your child informing the school of the change. If a note is not received, your child must be dismissed according to the regular dismissal plan.

  • If possible, please try to limit unplanned dismissal changes. However, we understand that plans do change. On those rare occasions, please call the office prior to 2:00pm so that the teacher and the child can receive the information.

Y.E.S Hours

Students who complete 50 hours of community service through their elementary school years are eligible to receive the Youth Engaged in Service (Y.E.S.) award at the end of grade 5. Community service hours can be earned by volunteering. The students and parents are expected to keep track of any hours earned throughout the years.

Clothing

Children should dress appropriately for school. Please keep in mind that they will go outside to play each day, even when it is cold out. There are many things for children to climb on, so sneakers are recommended. Flip flops should not be worn. Please make sure your child is able to fasten any snaps, buttons, or buckles on his/her pants for toileting purposes. It is necessary that your child be self-sufficient in the bathroom.

Birthday Celebrations

Teachers individually celebrate birthdays in the classrooms.

Due to the Woburn Public Schools Wellness Policy
