Soccer is the Most Popular International Sport.
Soccer is the most popular sport worldwide. The FIFA World Cup is the most watched sporting event in the world. Almost every country except for the United states calls it Football, because the athletes kick a ball up and down the field. In many countries, it is the dominant sport, including Brazil, Germany, France, UK, Italy, Spain, and many others. In, the U.S, soccer is only ranked 5th, in popularity.
U.S. Sports:
The most popular sports in the U.S. are Football (American), Baseball, Basketball, and Ice Hockey. Football is the dominant sport in the U.S. The National Football League earns 7.24 billion dollars in revenue, and each team receives 226.4 million dollars a year. Many of the highest paid athletes in the world are football players. The Super Bowl is the most watched sporting event in the United States, viewed by over 114 million people. The Super Bowl is the 4th most watched sporting event in the world, even though it is only played in America.
Ice Hockey:
Ice Hockey is the dominant sport in Canada, and very popular in the United States and Russia. Hockey is the sport with the third most injuries. It is not a popular sport internationally, but is one of the most watched sports in the Winter Olympics. The NHL has teams in both the U.S. and Canada, and it’s popularity has increased a lot since 2003.
