Football Game

I live in a college town, where fall Saturdays mean college football. I love watching it on TV or listening to it on the radio to hear the play-by-play. But every now and then, my family goes to the stadium to watch the game! When this occurs, it becomes a full-day adventure!

First, mom bakes a huge batch of chocolate chip cookies to take to the tailgate. She always gives me one to eat when they are hot out of the oven.

The tailgate is a pre-game party where we hang out with our family and friends and eat great treats!

​

Someone always brings a grill to the tailgate. There is nothing better than a hot dog hot off the grill on a football Saturday! I like my hot dog in a bun with a squirt of ketchup!

My favorite part of the tailgate is when the marching band walks by, playing the fight song on their trumpets and drums!

Everyone stops what they are doing to clap and sing along. And when the band moves on, we follow them to the stadium.

When we enter the stadium, we need to hold out our tickets to be scanned.

​

Once they are scanned, we slowly weave our way through the crowds of people to get to our seats.

Most of the time, we sit in our seats and watch the game, but when the home team scores a touchdown or a field goal, everyone jumps up to celebrate!

I love to raise my hand high up in the air to high-five the people around me.

Football Saturdays are fun, but after a long day of excitement, noise, and entertainment, there’s no place like home.
