State Testing Requirements

In order to graduate high school, a student must pass MAAP Tests (state tests) in the following subject areas:

Biology I
Algebra I
English II

A student will not graduate until he or she passes the MAAP tests. This is state law. This can be the biggest roadblock to graduation. The student will test until he/she passes all the state test.

Terms to Know

GPA: An average of grades students have earned.

Weighted GPA takes the rigor of courses into account. (See list on p.7 in the Program of Studies.) We use a weighted 100-point scale GPA for rank.

Many colleges use a 4.0 scale for admission and scholarships. Colleges use the unweighted average.

Students will get averages at least once per year.

Active Parent

Active Parent Portal: Here you will be able to see all grades, attendance, and schedules for your student. THIS is how you monitor grades and absences.

Our teachers are excellent communicators, but Active Parent is used for reporting grades, allowing teachers’ time may be prioritized to meet the needs of all our students.

Please use ActiveParent. Do not expect your child’s teachers to email you solely for updating grades.

Attendance & Credits

Students can have no more than 4 absences for term (9 week) classes and no more than 8 absences for semester classes.
Any days over will result in students NOT earning credit(s) for classes. They will receive a 64/F or their actual grade, whichever is lower.
Parent notes/doctor excuses for absences can only be accepted DURING THE MONTH OF THE ABSENCE/CHECKOUT/CHECKIN
Parent notes/excuses must be submitted to Office 1 (Guidance) on the day the student returns. No later than the LAST business day of the month in which they were absent.
Seat time can be made up:

After school, Tue.-Thu., 3:41-4:45pm (transportation provided)
Saturday D-Hall, 8-11am (Must be on time & must sign up by Fri. morning of each week in Office 2)
Intercession, 8am-12pm (transportation provided) (Sep., 29-Oct. 2)
