What is a Personal Graduation Plan?
This is a plan designed to help all student entering high school identify 4 years of coursework needed to complete a distinguished level of achievement with endorsements on the foundation high school program.
How does a Personal Graduation Plan help a student?
Students begin career and college exploration and awareness in elementary and middle school through Xello.
The interest inventories completed guide the student to make an informed decision about high school courses that will help advance a student into postsecondary education.
At the end of 8th grade, students complete a Personal Graduation Plan. Parents and students are to sign the document and receive a copy.
House Bill 5 adds a requirement that counseling take place during each year of a student’s enrollment in high school.
Manor ISD high school counselors will complete one on one conferences each year with their caseload of students to evaluate the student’s progress towards graduation.
What is a Transcript/AAR?
An Academic Achievement Record (AAR) or transcript is the record of a student’s academic achievement for their high school diploma.
Transcripts may be issued as official or unofficial depending upon the request circumstances.
How does a Transcript/AAR relate to colleges?
The Transcript/AAR is a record of what a student has taken in high school, as well as their GPA (grade point average), RANK, and state testing history.
GPA and RANK are officially calculated twice a school year, at the end of the Fall and Spring semesters.
What is GPA (Grade Point Average)?
A student’s grade point average is the average of all of their accumulated semester grades earned for high school level courses. Grades are converted into a Grade Point by using a 4.0 scale. Example: 100 average in a course would convert into a 4.0. A 97 average in a course would convert into a 3.7. A 72 average in a course would convert into a 1.2 grade point.
**All grades(passing or failing) are converted and averaged for a GPA.
What is RANK on a transcript/AAR?
The district shall assign to semester grades and shall calculate a weighted numerical grade average in accordance with the following scale:
LEVEL 1 Course Grade multiplied by 1.1
Level 1 courses are IB, AP, PreAP, dual credit, and OnRamps courses.
LEVEL 2 Course Grade multiplied by 1.0
Level 2 courses are all other state approved courses.
The weighted GPA is what is used to identify RANK for a student within the class. RANK shows how a specific student’s academic achievement measures up to those of their classmates within the same grade level.
Level One versus Level Two for class rank
For example, a student who earns a report card grade of an 80 in a level two course will receive 80 grade mark points. A student who earns a report card grade of an 80 in a level one course will receive 88 grade mark points.

CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION (CTE)
PROGRAMS OF STUDY (POS)
Within each Career Cluster, courses are further divided into Programs of Study (POS). Each POS represents a coherent sequence of courses that culminates in a capstone opportunity, college credit and/or industry certification. These programs of study offer the opportunity for students to earn an endorsement. Of the five endorsements approved by TEA, each CTE program of study can earn students an endorsement in one of three areas:
