Second week of lessons!Flutes - Practice making sound on the headjoint. Make high sounds and low sounds. Clarinets - We put together our mouthpieces and barrels and made sound on the mouthpieces. Remember, be careful of your reed, it’s very breakable! One group of clarinets put them together this week, and the other group focused on using our tongues and reading some rhythms. Watch my youtube video (found on the rehearsal section on the ⅚ tab of my page and learn to put your clarinet together this week! If you have a piano (or a virtual piano) at home, the sound on your mouthpiece and barrel should be F#.Trombones/Trumpets - Practiced buzzing on our mouthpieces. The more wet your lips are, the better. Practice making low buzzes and making high buzzes, then work on “sirens,” sliding from low to high, like a tornado siren! We also put together our instruments this week. I posted a link to a fingering chart for the trombones in the practice sheet (also found on my teacher page). If you can, learn #1 - 6 in unit one. Don’t worry about hitting the correct notes as much as you should worry about making sure they are higher or lower than the notes before it. Look at their height on the staff to determine what notes are higher and lower.Saxophone - We put together our mouthpiece and neck and made sound on the mouthpiece. Remember, be careful of your reed, it’s very breakable! We also learned B, A, and G this week! Fantastic work. Please learn #1 - 6 this week on your own! F Horn - We buzzed on our mouthpiece this week - Practice buzzing for a long period of time (try to buzz for 20 seconds without stopping!) at home. Also focus on changing pitches. Can you get high sounds and low sounds?
