Polaris: Adding data from student performance in Student accounts.
Courses: ELA Phonics course focused on skills.
Planner: For teachers, you can add lessons for the day, week, month. Set up classes for specific assignments. You can ELA class or a Math class. When you assign those assignments to that class eventually the lessons will be sorted similarly for the student’s view.
Student Performance: Collect data for IEP goals. Now you can add data to an IEP goal in Polaris from “My Account”. On the menu, go to “My Account”-go to “students”, click on one of your students to open, go to tab that says “performance”. From here, you will be able to view assignments as far back as 30 days. Some assignments have an option to “add as goal data”. When you select this option, then you can view see the goal from Polaris and select the goal you want to add the data to.

Positivity: A behavior management and social-emotional learning platform that fosters positive behaviors and supports social skill development.

SymbolStix Prime: A comprehensive symbol library used in N2Y materials, aiding communication and understanding for students with communication challenges.

SymbolStix PRIME provides access to over 90,000 relevant, dynamic symbols for consistency throughout our suite of solutions, helps educators create interactive communication tools and activities, and empowers self expression and learning in students with communication and reading challenges.

Assigning Lessons: There are several ways to assign lessons.

Adding students: When you add new students please make sure to add ID# and Student’s email. Make sure to use current high school grade level as well. Also, give access to all the students on your caseload. Share any students who are in another class but you are the case manager. No longer need profile to give student access ULS lessons.

ULS Profiles: Complete these as soon as possible for new students. (See Profile slides for details) Best practice going forward is to complete at the end of the school year. If students go to a new teacher at the beginning of the year. The previous teacher who knows the students has completed the profile to provide an accurate present level of performance.

Benchmarks & Checkpoints: Make sure we are assigning these to students.

Benchmarks need to be completed at the beginning and end of the year. We need data to show growth (NWEA is administered three times a year).
Checkpoints: Pre and Post-These are assigned before starting a unit and after completing the unit. Also provides data to demonstrate growth.

Assigning Lessons: There are several ways to assign lessons. In the menu:

My Account–go to my “Students” click on “add assignments” (easiest way to assign lessons)
My Account–go to “Planner” click on “add assignment” (early access to using the planner)
Unique–go to “Unit Lessons” click on a lesson “view activities” then click on “assign”
Unique–go to “Teacher Dashboard” (this option involves setting up a schedule, selecting the unit plan dates and editing the plan)

ULS-Student Profiles

One of the major components of Unique is the observational profiles. Please take the time to have these completed or updated.

ULS student profiles are a big part of ensuring students are getting the correct level of differentiated instruction based on their present levels of performance.

Make sure you add and update students correctly!

Create New Profile

1) Log into your ULS account.

2) Click on the Menu button and choose "n2y GPS" from the ULS section.

3) Open the "Observational Profiles" section on the first student who appears.

4) Check the date of the most recent K-12 Student Learning Profile completed. Make note of if it's out of date (Over 365 days old).

5) Click on the blue "Students" button and select the next student on your list. Repeat through all students.

6) FINAL STEP - Update the profile of any student without a green check by ASAP.

****If you are the teacher who completed the last profile for a student, you can "EDIT" to update****

Make sure you add and update students correctly!

Update a student profile:

1) Navigate to the n2y GPS.

2) Select the desired student.

3) Select Observational Profiles.

4) Optional: Download the PDF by selecting the icon under the Guide column on the right-hand side of the desired profile.

5) Select the name of the profile itself in the left-hand column.

6) Use the "Edit Profile" button in the right-hand column to edit your answers.

7) Select: "Continue" when the Edit Profile box pops up.

8) Click through all of the sections of the profile, making any edits or updates as needed.

9) Once the edits have been made, click "Save and End". This will create a new profile and the previous version will be archived.

ULS & Polaris are MANDATORY starting 2023-24: WE will have walkthroughs this year.

All teachers should be using Unique & Polaris for students on their caseloads.

Begin to successfully plan, write, progress monitor and report by following the steps below:
