Summer Updates

  • ULS: Transition Band Resources: Job Categories Posters
  • New Benchmarks in ULS- Can be assigned to students, view the assessments by skills. Old benchmarks will be removed 8/11/23.
  • Teacher Navigation Bar: Minimizes when not viewing.
  • ULS Monthly Unit Changes: Lessons & Activities look different
  • Student View Changes: Changes made to Menu, “‘turn in” button and print button.
  • Polaris: Adding data from student performance in Student accounts.

  • Unique Learning System: standards-based curriculum with symbol-supported materials for differentiated instruction.

  • Polaris: IEP writing program to create personalized, data-driven IEPs and current performance data.

  • L3 Skills: A collection of interactive, skill-building activities and games designed to promote independent learning and reinforce essential academic and life skills.

  • News2You: A weekly newspaper and digital platform providing symbol-supported news articles for students

  • Positivity: A behavior management and social-emotional learning platform that fosters positive behaviors and supports social skill development.

  • SymbolStix Prime: A comprehensive symbol library used in N2Y materials, aiding communication and understanding for students with communication challenges.

Remember to make sure to add ID# and Student’s email. Make sure to use current high school grade level.

  • ULS Profiles: Complete these as soon as possible for new students. (See Profile slides for details)
  • Benchmarks & Checkpoints: Make sure we are assigning these to students.
  • Assigning Lessons: There are several ways to assign lessons.

  • Make sure you add and update students correctly!

ULS-Student Profiles

One of the major components of Unique is the observational profiles. Please take the time to have these completed or updated.

ULS student profiles are a big part of ensuring students are getting the correct level of differentiated instruction based on their present levels of performance.

Create New Profile

1) Log into your ULS account.

2) Click on the Menu button and choose "n2y GPS" from the ULS section.

3) Open the "Observational Profiles" section on the first student who appears.

4) Check the date of the most recent K-12 Student Learning Profile completed. Make note of if it's out of date (Over 365 days old).

5) Click on the blue "Students" button and select the next student on your list. Repeat through all students.

6) FINAL STEP - Update the profile of any student without a green check by ASAP.

****If you are the teacher who completed the last profile for a student, you can "EDIT" to update****

  • Make sure you add and update students correctly!

Update a student profile:

1) Navigate to the n2y GPS.

2) Select the desired student.

3) Select Observational Profiles.

4) Optional: Download the PDF by selecting the icon under the Guide column on the right-hand side of the desired profile.

5) Select the name of the profile itself in the left-hand column.

6) Use the "Edit Profile" button in the right-hand column to edit your answers.

7) Select: "Continue" when the Edit Profile box pops up.

8) Click through all of the sections of the profile, making any edits or updates as needed.

9) Once the edits have been made, click "Save and End". This will create a new profile and the previous version will be archived.

N2Y Walkthrough Rubric

  • ULS & Polaris are MANDATORY starting 2023-24: WE will have walkthroughs this year.

All teachers should be using Unique & Polaris for students on their caseloads.

Begin to successfully plan, write, progress monitor and report by following the steps below:

  1. Complete the Smart Start Learning Pathway available within Professional Learning.

  • Next, seat your students in Polaris!

  • Finally, use the Implementation Checklist to plan your next upcoming IEP.
