Finn, like his friends, is typically sarcastic, and a free-spirit. He is just as quick to make banter and jokes with his friends as he is to insult his enemies. He is very confident and friendly to most people, assuming they don’t have a problem with him, Finn is always just living in the moment and enjoys having fun. He is quite charismatic, supportive, and is often seen as the authority in his group of drifters. Although he is a natural leader, his laid-back nature and ideals leads him to not exploiting this. Finn’s former parole officers, state how pleasantly surprised they are to see how caring Finn was and how much he wanted to help others.

Backstory

Finn has Scottish origins and used to live in Dillon, Montana, with his parents and three older brothers who “spoiled him”. His father ran a service selling hot-wired cars, which he enlisted his sons in helping him steal, strip, and sell them. They were eventually caught and their father blamed his sons, resulting in them all going to jail aside from their father. When Finn got out, he left his home behind, bitter over his father’s betrayal and unable to rely on his older brothers since they were servicing jail time he only writes his mother one single letter every year, soon he began to travel. Alongside meeting a few local drifters at an abandoned house, and they decided to travel together. Ever since he’s lived the life of a true hippie, Maybe not your everyday stereotypical peace and love type but he definitely isn’t tied down to a place for too long. In the future he plans to live on a beach in a cool beach house and invite his friends with him.

Tati is a stubborn, mischievous, and rebellious young woman. She is a classic case of your everyday tomboy with a mixture of punk rock expressed in both her music taste and style. She loves to work on cars alongside singing and can be described as bold and outgoing. She has a big mouth often making quick comments, acting fearless and loves to take risks, which often gets her on the bad side of others. She can be prone to angry outbursts, and has serious issues with abandonment and trust after her mother’s death, Due to all her bad experience over the years, she has become a bit pessimistic and resentful of life, convinced that there wasn’t really anyone who actually cared about her or who she could trust in aside from her brother and cousin Joy. She loves her father but has distanced herself from him over the years due to his newfound alcoholic obsession and dissatisfaction with her future singing career. Backstory

In 2005, when Tati was only 11 years old her mother tragically died in a freak accident at her construction job due to strong weather conditions which swept a large metal pipe her way ultimately ending her life. Although Joy was supportive at the time, her family moved away as they never stayed in one place for too long and her brother was far too busy in high school, leaving Tati to deal with her grief alone. Tatiana always used to smile and laugh, but gradually became more resentful of her life without her father and brother’s complete support. Not long after the loss of her mother, Tati’s father went through a deep period of depression and began dating multiple women spending money his former wife saved for Tatiana on clubbing and casino’s completely neglecting his kids. From there, Tati had to raise herself and became more rebellious, hanging around with bad people, taking drugs and running away from home, making the local junkyard her secret place. Her emotional temperament took physical form, as she gradually changed her cute and girly outward appearance to the tomboy-rock style of today. Currently she lives in her same ol’ family house with her constantly drunken father who brings home women every night. Her brother on the other hand moved out years ago to avoid their father. Although Tati is in college her grades are horrible and she’s close to flunking only getting cash by working with her father in his mechanic shop.

Declan may only be 19, but he carries himself like a 50-year-old antihero dragging across an apocalyptic wasteland. When he’s not getting into a fight, he’s being aggressive enough to scare off any potential sparring partners. He is a logical thinker, acting as if the worst case scenario is the only possible scenario. His pessimism doesn’t earn him many friends, but being prepared for the worst has saved his skin more than once. Nobody really likes Declan, and Declan doesn’t like anybody, either. He believes that most people are too stupid to survive or too lazy to try, and he distanced himself from people to keep himself from getting dragged down with them. On the rare occasion he does stick around someone, it’s either because he’s been forced to out of necessity or because he gets enjoyment out of flustering and annoying them. He’s an expert at getting on people’s last nerve with nothing but a few sentences, and besides stealing, it’s his favorite way to have fun. Declan is very vocal with his opinions and doesn’t dole out much sympathy. If he thinks someone is whining, he’ll make sure that they know and mock their shallow problems until they get over them. This is Declan’s special version of tough love. The only people who Declan isn’t immediately antagonistic towards is the elderly. He has a soft spot for seniors and enjoys taking care of them and learning about their lives and stories. He’s pretty nostalgic, and he stubbornly believes that things were better back in “The Old Days”, even though he wasn’t even alive to see them.

Declan doesn’t follow the rules, and he even seems to enjoy breaking laws. He’s not 21, but that doesn’t stop him from drinking, though he makes sure never to go too far ever since the incident that cost him everything. He hates smoking and doesn’t tolerate anyone who risks their health on such a nasty habit. When he steals, he moves effortlessly, as if he was possessed. He’s become so adept as a serial thief that he hasn’t been caught once since he was 16. Even though he doesn’t usually like people, he’d be glad to take someone under his wing as a protégée, the Robin to his equally-as-cool-but-slightly-less-moral Batman. He’s also established a strict moral code; He only robs at night and never targets houses, to reduce the risk of a civilian getting in danger. He’ll stake out potential targets during the day, and if the business is struggling, he’ll spare them. He also makes sure to give any newcomers a one week head start before pouncing. He may be a criminal, but he’s not a monster.

Backstory

The O’Gormains were practically the golden family of their home state of New York. The patriarch was a kindly old man named Princeton, a decorated veteran of the World Wars who had made a fortune creating and publishing The Patriot, a newspaper that sought to inform and give a voice to the common man. Throughout his life, he made sure to share his wealth with those who lived in poverty, as he once had after the first War. Princeton’s children and grandchildren had become important members of society, entrepreneurs and socialites and politicians. Most importantly, though, they all knew to appreciate their lot in life and share what they had with others, as Princeton himself had taught them to. All of them except for Princeton’s great-grandnephew, Declan.

Declan was the son of Harold O’Gormain, who at the time was the Mayor of New York City and planning to run for Representative. From a young age, he was mischievous and badly behaved. His mother had died from stomach cancer when he was only 6, and Declan lashed out against the rest of his family because he felt that they hadn’t done enough to take care of her. His father was strict on him to preserve his public image, but this only caused Declan to behave worse in an effort to annoy him and ultimately made their relationship more and more strained. Declan was a terror on most of the adults in his life; His teachers praised his grades but despised his behavior, and most of his older family members thought that he was nothing but a spoiled brat at best and a black spot marrying the family name at worst. Even his classmates and the kids who were paid to be his friends were constantly teased and harassed and could barely stand to look at him. The only person who understood Declan, and the only person he ever behaved for, was Princeton. Princeton saw in his nephew himself at that age, full of problems and opinions he felt like no one would listen to. He always took time to hear his side and sometimes ever found himself agreeing with him. Some of Declan’s antics made him laugh out loud, but he always emphasized that he didn’t approve of them. He saw so much potential in Declan, so much more wisdom and determination than other children his age, and he tried his best to nurture that side of him instead of shaming him like everyone else did.

Princeton was more of a father to Declan than his own father was. But he was old, and just after Declan had turned 16, he passed away peacefully in his sleep. And then all of a sudden, the O’Gormains had the chance to solve their biggest problem. It probably would have happened a long time ago if Princeton hadn’t taken such a liking to the boy. Harold had lost the elections for both Representative and his second term as Mayor by now, and he couldn’t help but blame his son, who’s behavior had gone from pranks and teasing to vandalism and even theft. Even before that, the family had questioned for a long time if Declan was even Harold’s son at all. The two barely had a resemblance, and Declan’s mother had been known to not be the most faithful. Everyone had felt like they were stuck with him until Princeton’s death, but the straw that broke the camel’s back was what Declan had done when he heard the news. Blind with grief after losing the only person who seemed to understand him, Declan got blackout drunk, stole his father’s car, and went on a joyride around the city that resulted in him trying to rob a nightclub with a broken vodka bottle as a weapon and a fishnet stocking over his head. All while wearing a t-shirt from one of his father’s old campaigns. Infuriated, Harold let his only son be dragged off to jail, refusing to pay for bail and not answering when Declan used his phone call to try and ask for forgiveness. He sent a blood sample into a lab for paternity testing, but disowned Declan before he could even give a sample of his own. Declan stayed at the police station for a week, and when he was being transferred to a juvenile prison, he was able to escape. By the time he’d walked back home, he found that all of the locks had been changed so that he couldn’t get in, and saw that what had once been the furniture in his bedroom was now a huge pile of ash in the backyard.

Declan did the only thing he could think to do; He broke into his own home, got all the money he could carry out of the safe, left a spray-painted message all over his old room, wrenched the license plate off of his father’s car and drove off for Washington. He was able to pay his way out of any trouble he got into along the way, and was able to use the rest to buy himself a tiny apartment when he arrived. After that, there wasn’t enough for a candy bar left in his pocket, and he had to start stealing to survive. In the first few years, he was clumsy and sloppy and not confident enough to try anything during the day. He targeted little drug stores and ma-and-pa shops, and was only able to get away with anything due to Timberfalls’ bumbling police force. It took them more than a year to realize that his robberies were connected, despite them being the only robberies that ever happened in the sleepy town. As he got more confident and started targeting bigger businesses, Declan started making a name for himself as an uncatchable mastermind, a shadow in the night. After he left a bit of pocket change behind at a crime scene that the cops mistook for a calling card, he was given his name by the papers; The Nickel Bandit. He kinda liked it. It made him feel like a cowboy. But the name that the few other criminals he ran into in the town suited him better; He was The Pitbull, and he was tough and aggressive and you didn’t want to get on any of his sides, let alone his bad one. As the years went by, Declan got comfortable in his position as little Timberfalls’ infamous super-thief of doom. It got to a point where he stopped stealing for necessity and more for fun, just like in the old days. But everything changed when he made the stupid decision to break into the Globeworks headquarters, and just so happened to on the same day that a bunch of stupid kids were there, too, unraveling a mystery that Declan got reluctantly caught up in.

Joy’s name fits her well; She’s a relentless optimist, and her energetic and positive attitude is infectious. She is deeply caring and empathetic, and if she sees that someone is unhappy she’ll always try her best to make them feel better. She can make even the most bitter and lonely person smile, and she won’t stop until she does. Don’t even try to defy her will. There is no escape and no reasoning with her. She will make you happy and you will love it every step of the way. Joy is a hardworking and very determined person, sometimes to an annoying degree. She prides herself on never giving up in the middle of a pursuit, and she’ll see it stubbornly through to to end no matter what happens, unless it ends up hurting herself or the people she cares about. She’s lost control in the past, and she doesn’t want that to happen again.

Despite what some people may think, Joy does have the ability to get angry, but people don’t really take her seriously when she is. Her childlike personality always makes her seem less like a young woman who is genuinely enraged and more like a puppy pouting after it wasn’t allowed to sleep on a bigger dog’s bed. She never curses and rarely ever raises her voice, and when she does yell, her voice gets higher and squeakier the more passionate she gets, which just makes everyone think she’s cute. Joy is very proud of her Vietnamese heritage just as her parents taught her to be, naming her after a folk hero who caught for the country’s independence. Joy is also a proud and opinionated feminist, and she tries to treat everyone equally but sometimes can be a bit antagonistic towards men she doesn’t know. All in all though, Joy is (no pun intended) a joy to be around.

Backstory

On New Year’s Eve going into 1996, an acrobat named Kim Kestrel was in the middle of a spectacular trapeze performance. Her fiancé, the ringleader, was ecstatic as he narrated each of her daring flips, leaps and swings. The crowd in the stands was on the edge of their seats as they watched her. And then, all of the sudden, the show stopped dead as Kim felt her water break. From that moment on, no one doubted that little Joy was born to perform. So much, in fact, that she couldn’t wait to get out and join the show. Joy’s parents owned the Saint Giong Circus, one of the most renowned traveling circuses in the country. The Nguyens were proud to put smiles on hundreds of faces while defying the cruel reputations that circuses had gained over the years; They trained their animals humanely and never forced them to perform grueling or humiliating stunts, and actively spoke out against the harsh treatment of people that other circuses would have called “freaks”. When Joy was born, her parents forced themselves to stop traveling in order for her to spend her childhood in her father’s hometown of Timberfalls. Even though they settled down in one place, they couldn’t bring themselves to stop performing. Joy’s mother only waited a week and a half before getting back on the trapeze, and Joy herself was her father’s “Assistant Ringmaster” by the time she’d turned 3.

Even when she was that young, she shared her parent’s love for performing, but as she got older, she started seeking out more of a challenge. When she was 6, she decided that she wanted to be an acrobat like her mother. And that decision set the course for the rest of her life. Almost as soon as she started training, Joy fell in love with the hoops, silks and swings. It may have been grueling and exhausting, but she never felt more alive than when she was flying high above the rest of the world. Because she started so young and had so much passion, Joy’s talents grew quickly, and she became far more advanced than most others in her age group. Her mother homeschooled her and taught her everything she knew, giving her a flexible schedule that let her have much more time than most kids would to practice. By the time Joy was 12, she was performing onstage alongside her mother, and she felt like she’d found what she’d want to do for the rest of her life before it even really began. The older Joy got, though, the more that it became clear that what she saw as a passion was quickly spiraling into an unhealthy obsession. Joy had always been very critical with herself and determined to always get better. But around the same time when she started performing as an acrobat, her desire to grow became a desire for perfection, and she started taking everything too far. Instead of attending her mother’s lessons, Joy would sneak away to practice instead, and sometimes she would even choose to practice instead of performing in shows. She’d push herself far past her limits, keep working and working late into the night until her body physically couldn’t strain itself any farther. Sometimes she skipped meals and sleep to practice, and worked so hard that she could barely drag her body back to her bed. She started losing alarming amounts of weight, and instead of getting stronger, her malnourished and sleep-deprived body got more and more frail.

People tried to express their concern for her, to tell her that they were worried for her physical and mental health, but Joy ignored them and convinced herself that she was doing nothing but good. Not even her best friend and cousin, Tati, could get through her head how much she was hurting everyone, and after the circus started traveling again and left Tati and Timberfalls behind, Joy couldn’t be reasoned with. She may have kept pushing herself until she reached her breaking point if not for the faithful day when, during a live performance, she slipped in the middle of an ankle hang and fell 10 feet from her hoop. She was able to get out without too many serious injuries, but ended up breaking her left leg in three places. She was forced to sit out of all acrobatics for two months, and for the first time in years had nothing better to do than look at herself in the mirror. And when she did and found that she barely recognized herself, it finally clicked that she’d done so much harm to herself for so little improvement. Joy realized that there were more important things than her acrobatics, and decided that from then on out, she would always put herself before her passions. To this day she runs her fingers across the scars on her leg every time she needs to remember what really matters.

Neveah was born the youngest in a family of 6 children (3 brothers and 2 sisters). Her parents (dorks in love) urged Neveah to run her family’s successful café called "Wildlines and Buttercups." It was her parent's dream for her to take over the café which Neveah disagreed with entirety- She loved her parents really, but she was more into the tech scene than running a café and besides it’s not like her other siblings are going to be going anywhere anytime soon.. right? Well, that's what Neveah thought. On her birthday night when she was thrown a party by her parents, their house caught on fire resulting in her parents death and 2 of her siblings soon after- herself and the other remaining siblings managed to escape the fire, but sadly they were separated and weren't given the chance to bury their dead family members and give a proper goodbye to each other. Neveah was given to her mother's parents who loved and cherished her dearly, but even though she loves them to bits. It will never be enough for her, she missed her parents and her siblings. Sadly, till this day she still doesn't know where her 3 remaining siblings were taken to, All she can do is pray that they were taken to somewhere safe.

Britney was sadly orphaned as a child due to a car accident that struck her parents. She had lived most of her childhood with her abusive uncle and after years of that horror of a home at age 14 finally having enough, she formed a plan and ran away- away from her toxic, abusive uncle, away from the man who had constantly abused her, away from her childhood demon. Years later at her birthday party Britney was about to be hit by a car nearly the same way as her parents, but thankfully she was rescued by a man and taken under his wing. The man, her, adopted father; Mr. George Watson did not only look after her, but was a pro gymnast and trained her and teaching her all he knew about gymnastics. As she turned 16 Britney skills were recognized by a popular agent. Thus slowly becoming the famed gymnast she is today.

They both grew up in Timberfalls, but despite that, they were as far from a closely knit family as possible. She had good grades, was popular, had many friends, worked for herself, was pretty, and on top of all of that was genuinely nice. Ashley never believed in herself and her sister, and always accepted when she was young that she was never going to be a golden child like Kim. She always chose hanging out with friends over family, focused little on her grades, and never actually listened to her parents and their wishes for her to be like Kim; go to a top college with 20+ friends, and be stunning, kind, and have many options on where to go in life. Ashley likes singing, and it's the only talent she thinks she has. She gets embarrassed easily however, and only sings when she's alone.
