LESSON 17: HEART AND LUNGS

  • Heart is hallow mascular organ located between the chest cavity and protected by the rib cage.
  • Is about as size of the fist
  • The word CARDIAC means heart.
  • Its contraction cannot be controlled by our will.
  • The beating of the heart is due to the contraction of your heart muscle.
  • It continues to pump blood as long as you live.
  • It pumps blood even you are sleeping.
  • The contraction continues allowing the heart to receive oxygen from the lungs and pump blood to the rest of the body.

LESSON 17: HEART AND LUNGS

  • The lungs are a pair of spongy, air-filled organs located on either side of the chest (thorax). The trachea (windpipe) conducts inhaled air into the lungs through its tubular branches, called bronchi. The bronchi then divide into smaller and smaller branches (bronchioles).
  • It has filtering unit the cleanse the air we breath.
  • The LUNGS filters the oxygen that enters our body.
  • It ensure that the heart receives clean oxygen from the lungs.
  • It removes body waste known as carbon dioxide.
  • The heart and lungs support each other to allow distribution of nutrients and oxygen to all parts of the body and removal of carbon dioxide as waste product.
