    1. Own it and support others
  3. Secure documents
  4. Insurance preparedness checklist
    • Check if FEMA has an insurance mandate on your home
  5. Inspection and maintenance

Essential Supplies:

  • Water: 3 gallon per person for drinking and sanitation (lasts 3 days)
  • Non-perishable food: For at least 3 days.
  • First-aid kit and medications: standard first aid kit, 2-3 day supply medication
  • Baby supplies: formula, diapers, food
  • Flashlight, batteries, and a radio: Battery-powered or hand-cranked.
  • Important documents: In a waterproof container
    • ID: Driver’s License, passports, Social Security cards
    • Insurance, financial, property, vehicles
    • Medical: prescriptions, doctor’s phone numbers
    • Contact information: family, friends, neighbors
  • Pet supplies: Food, water, and any necessary medications.
  • Cash: In small bills, as ATMs may be unavailable.
  • Other essentials: Toiletries, hand sanitizer, and basic tools.

This project is currently delayed due to the time required to obtain approval from the Harris County Flood Control District (HCFCD) for drainage work within the HCFCD right-of-way while fully complying with HCFCD requirements.

TxDOT Hempstead Highway Project

Community Updates

  • As of now, crews are currently working on the remaining retaining wall. This work should be done by the end of the month.
  • Once that work is complete the paving operation will begin and take most of September. As of right now the tentative completion date for this project is around the last week of September 2025

Regional Transportation Plan 2050

  • Summary: HGAC long term plan for the region. Used to set priorities for federal transportation funds.
  • Freeway Funds (I-10 Expansion) are driven by this regional plan.

Teacher Supply Drive

Upcoming Events

Many children can’t afford the most basic school supplies. Without the proper tools to do the work, children are challenged to achieve academic success.

​

Many compassionate teachers pay for school supplies from their own pockets so their students have a more productive, efficient learning experience.

​

The Teachers Aid program provides the supplies kids need to succeed.
