Montana is home to twelve sovereign tribal nations, each with unique cultures, histories, governments, and traditions. As we join you today from Missoula and Helena, we acknowledge that we are on the traditional and sacred homeland of the Salish and Pend d’Oreille, and the Blackfeet and Gros Ventre people, as well as other Montana tribes who have lived, traveled through, and hunted here since time immemorial, and continue to do so. Today, we honor the path they have shown us in caring for this place and for the generations to come. Please join me in acknowledgement.
