Set competitive team questions that will be answered in the session.

Latecomers

  • Welcome latecomers in with a smile- “Good to see you!”
  • Deal with latecomers in private: with a private ear message that only they can hear, or when others are in small group tasks and they are alone with you.
  • Avoid humiliating a latecomer in front of peers, this can be counter productive.
  • The educator would not normally teach the latecomer 1:1 or recap to them what they have missed. Instead, peers can be assigned to catch up the latecomer.

At what point does late coming start being an issue? Access your institution’s student disciplinary procedure or information for students, to find out at what point action should be taken. Discuss this with your colleagues.
