Exercise Description & Methodology - Detailed

  • Defenders start close to the goal line between the penalty area and touchline, and attackers start close to the halfway line near the touchline
    • First, the white team (2-3 players) builds the attack from their defensive while the maroon team (2-3 player) presses and challenges for possession
    • The next situation, the maroon team has possession and is pressured and challenged by the white team
    • Continue alternating between starting with the white and marron teams
  • The decision can be a fair, reckless, or excessive force challenge observed by the referee, by the AR, and/or by the 4th official, OR a boundary line decision for the AR, the referee, or for both to use visual communication
  • The referee or assistant referee lead the decision, or the team communicates prior to the public decision
  • After each trial, the referee and assistant referee receive instant feedback from referee coaches based on their actions and their decision (technical and disciplinary, if applicable)
