COURSE FAILURES or W/D after no-fault deadline

  1. Reimburse school Course (per credit) & Textbooks purchased

If a student fails a CCP ENGLISH or MATH -The procedure is to ask the student to go back to the WHS English or WHS MATH class, with an F for Semester 1, if the student passes 2 out of the 3 (Qtr 3, Qtr4, Exam) then they can still pass the class for the year and earn 1.0 credit.

2) SPORTS ELIGIBILITY - 3+ College Credit Hours = 2 High School Carnegie Unit.

Students must carry 5 Carnegie units to play sports. If you fail a course (typically 2 carnegie units) the student is not eligible to play sports the next season, b/c the student only passed 3 carnegie units.

OVERVIEW /THINGS TO THINK ABOUT

30 of 37

3) Full Time Status - Up to 30 credit hours a year of college credit

EXCEPT when Part-Time WHS student

EXCEED Full -Time STATUS Rule

Calculate full-time status as follows:

a) Determine student’s number of high school ONLY units,

b) Multiply that number by 3, and

c) Subtract the result from the number 30.

d) That number is the total number of credits that CCP

student may earn for the academic year.

Summer courses count toward the year total as well

(Ex: Summer 2026 goes w/ 2026-2027 school year)

31 of 37

4) WHS RECOMMENDS:

MATH at WHS unless already through Pre-Calculus or higher, or exceptionally

high ACT score in math SCIENCE at WHS --Such as AP BIOLOGY /AP CHEMISTRY

  • Going into Health Science - TAKE ANATOMY at WHS first
  • Going into Engineering - TAKE PHYSICS & PLTW at WHS first,

If your goal is to earn an Associates Degree ONLY then it is understandable to take more courses through CCP, but for RIGOR & to SUPPORT

HIGH ACT scores, WHS courses are the BEST

(College courses don't prep for the ACT)

Consider Advanced Placement Courses - Nation wide and prep well for college

32 of 37

5) Could be Negative?

What happens to your freshman year at college if you take too many General Educ. courses

(History Perspective, Cultural, Ethics, Social Sciences, Arts, etc.) in CCP during HS?

  • Would you be registered for all DIFFICULT, HIGH RIGOR courses & NO Gen Ed courses for a cushion, such as Social Sciences, History Perspective, English, etc?

  • Freshman are LAST to REGISTER in College. Would you be able to register and actually get in the upper level courses you need?

  • Need Full Time College Course load for Financial Aid? What if you can’t get in the upper level courses you need? Will you take courses that you don't really need for your program for Financial Aid?

  • If you do take Gen Ed courses, most colleges want diversity. Be smart:

Choose 1 from each category- Such as: History Perspective, Cultural, Ethics, Social Sciences, Arts, etc.

6) DO YOUR RESEARCH OHIO TRANSFER MODULE courses for 4 year colleges

(not all associate courses transfer)

33 of 37

KNOW YOUR GOALS

Associates Degree or Bachelor’s Degree?

Many courses for Associate's Degree do not transfer (into a 4 year program) under the OTM (Ohio Transfer Module); know your path such as…….

  • 2 + 2 programs (Earn Associate's then transfer to another school

(Transfer Associates Scholarship)

  • Articulated Agreements to years at Sinclair transfer to another school

  • Research your program at the college you want to attend?
  • What transfers? Use Transferology.com (Free)
