  • 574ha received aerial application.
  • 1,444ha planned annual average tending area in 2019 FMP.
  • Every proposed area surveyed as part of net-down process.
  • Poor weather conditions

Roads and Maintenance

Construction:

    • Horwood Peninsula Road (6.1km)
    • Aube Road (~2km)
    • 19km of Branch Road
    • 143km of Operational Road

Maintenance

  • 628 km of roads monitored and maintained.

2. Monitoring and Assessment

Significant Events

  • No significant events have affected implementation of the forest management plan.

Some damage included:

    • 166,755 ha by spruce budworm (moderate to severe mortality).
    • 977 hectares by forest tent caterpillar
    • 136 ha burn by three fires (one large, two small)

Compliance

  • 22 Inspections were carried out by Industry and MNRF (17 and 5)
  • No non-compliances or issues currently pending.

Slash Management

  • Occurs in areas planned for artificial regeneration and some for natural regeneration.
  • Slash piling does not take place in cut-to-length harvest areas
  • ~2,241 ha received a slash management treatment
      • Slash piling via dozer = 686 ha
      • Cut-to-length – 1,555 ha
