The European Evangelical Alliance

  • EEA is the family of Europe’s national Evangelical Alliances, agencies & networks.
  • It encompasses 1000s of churches & organisations & at least 23 million people from 35 nations.
  • The small team serve as the dynamic centre for equipping, connecting & representing.
  • EEA believes that contributing to the welfare of society is part of our Gospel witness.
  • That’s why we engage in socio-political work, in Brussels and across Europe.
  • Julia Doxat-Purser has the pan-European role, as socio-political representative & religious liberty coordinator.

Our foundational principles

  • As Evangelicals, our socio-political thinking must be based on the Bible.
  • Biblical values are amazing; From justice to compassion to integrity to neighbourliness to stewardship to purity to forgiveness & much more.
  • The Bible’s first few pages tell us some vital things about people:
    • Every human being is made in the image of God so is infinitely precious.
    • Every human being is capable of great evil.
    • Every human being is meant to flourish in community with others, in work, responsibility & creativity & in caring for God’s beautiful creation.
    • EEA believes politics and society must always respect these truths.
  • God is above party politics. So EEA must be as well. We are strictly non-partisan.

Our top priorities

  • Sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ comes first.
    • In our socio-political work, our aims & style, we try to honour Jesus & represent Him as fully as we can. We call this being Good News People.
    • We call upon all Christians to follow the EEA socio-political approach & code of conduct
  • Human beings are meant to be free. Freedom of religion or belief (FoRB) is about all people being able to believe & live according to their faith or worldview.
    • FoRB & Freedom of expression are fundamental for everyone & necessary for plural society to survive.
    • Living together with our deep differences becomes possible when we respect the freedoms of our neighbour.
    • This essential vision is the Civil Public Square.

Our socio-political activities

  • In Brussels, we represent Europe’s Evangelicals to the European Union institutions. Often working behind the scenes, we contribute a Good News perspective on a variety of issues but especially freedom of religion or belief.
  • Across Europe, we provide training, consultancy and resources to strengthen biblical understanding and action.
  • Collaborative action and unity are in our DNA. We bring people together, online and face to face, to learn from one another and to work together. We are honoured and grateful to partner with many specialist agencies.
