6 MIN SUCCESSES SESSION
Brainstorm: In your context, what were the successes in ? Jot down one problem per (NON-YELLOW) sticky note
This could be successes for teachers or students.
TIPS: It doesn’t matter if your success is big or small, just capture it!
6 MIN SUCCESSES SHARE
Please share your successes within your group. Please take two minutes/person to share.
This could be successes for teachers or students.
TIPS: It doesn’t matter if your success is big or small, just capture it!
6 MIN CHALLENGES SESSION
Brainstorm: In your context, what gets in the way of in ? Jot down one problem per YELLOW sticky note
This could be challenges for teachers or students.
TIPS: It doesn’t matter if your problem is big or small, just capture it!
8 MIN SHARE PROBLEMS
Take turns sharing the problems you found. Each person has 2 minutes.
*You can end your 2 minutes early, but you cannot go over your time limit.
TIPS: State each issue succinctly (1-2 sentences before putting down a sticky and moving to the next one.
6 MIN SELECT A PROBLEM SORT
Post problems together as a group. Place your initials on the problem(s) you want to work on today. Each person votes twice. Then, determine which problem has the most votes.
TIPS: If the same problem has been written twice, combine the votes when you are counting. It helps to organize them (top to bottom) to see the ones with the most votes. If you aren’t sure whether two ideas are the same, ask the group.
5 MIN HOW MIGHT WE
Reframe your chosen problem as a more generalized “How Might We” question.
TIPS: Zoom out from the problem just a little, to open up some more possible solutions later. Choose an active, empowering word for the fourth word in your question.

5 MIN IDEATION
Individually (on a sheet of paper), generate many different possible solutions to your “How Might We” question. Do this silently.
TIPS: Go for quantity
Defer judgment
Encourage wild ideas
Stay focused on topic
2 MIN SELF-EDIT
Look at your list and select your top 1-2 ideas. Write each on a separate sticky note. (Write neatly because you will not have time to explain your ideas.)
TIPS:
Don’t dwell on this. Pick the one that calls to you!
2 MIN SHARE AND CAPTURE
Put all the top ideas onto the poster paper in the middle of the table.
TIPS:
3 MIN DECIDE
Place your initials on one idea you would like to keep developing today. Each person votes for only one.
TIPS:
If there is a tie, the “decider” calls it. For today, the decider is the person who most recently ate a taco.
2 MIN CELEBRATE
Celebrate that you now have an idea you can build! Reflect on what it was like to make a decision this way without any conversation.
TIPS:
15 MIN MAKING
Create a prototype of your idea.
TIPS:
Make it quick and dirty
Less talk, more action
Build, draw, role-play, create
10 MIN TESTING (Gallery Walk)
One person leaves your table to test another group’s prototype. The rest of your team stays, shares your work, and captures reactions.
TIPS:
As much as possible, let your tester interact with the prototype like they would “in the wild” of your workplace, classroom, etc.
Actions speak louder than words. For example, if we want to know which picture is the most engaging, don’t ask someone - pay attention to where their eye stops.
5 MIN REFLECT & ITERATE
Share what happened with your full group and reflect on what changes you might make for the next version.
TIPS:
