overview

We're looking for a Youth Engagement Coordinator to nurture and grow RIVET’s global community of young changemakers. You’ll be the one turning ideas into action, bringing our programs to life through meaningful connection and thoughtful coordination. This is a hands-on role for someone who loves building community, managing the details, and showing up consistently for impact leaders.

RIVET has built a unique business model: a consumer-facing brand fueled by the passions of Gen Z to do good in the world; a world-class philanthropic fund providing start-up grants to thousands of young social innovators; and a content engine packaging powerful stories of youth-led change for brands and influencers.

As RIVET continues to grow its youth community, we’re looking for someone who’s both a community architect and a hands-on facilitator, someone who can nurture authentic intergenerational relationships, thrives in startup constant change, and believes youth aren’t the leaders of tomorrow but the changemakers of right now.

The Youth Engagement Coordinator will join a dedicated, passionate, low-ego team of founders in scaling a first-of-its-kind social movement led by young people. The role will report into the Chief Impact Officer and will work closely with the Director of Donor Engagement.

Contract: 6 months/full-time (with potential to extend)Compensation: $3,000 USD/month (approx. $18,000 for 6 months)Start Date: October 1stLocation: Global/Remote-first

Work hours are flexible, with daily availability from 11am - 2pm ET and at least 4 hours overlap with CET (between 1pm and 9pm CET).

We’re looking for:

  • Mission-aligned: you care deeply about youth power
  • Strong facilitator & digital community builder
  • High EQ and culturally fluent: effective relationship builder with young people
  • Creative thinker with systems-building chops
  • Excited to co-create new programs from scratch

This role is ideal for a former youth leader, movement-builder, or community designer who knows how to hold a room (IRL or on Zoom) and can translate vibes into systems.

RIVET is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religious creed, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic information, military service, age, ancestry, or disability.

Meet RIVET

hi!

There are 1.8 billion young people ready to change the world.

Young people don’t lack talent or imagination.

They lack access to resources.

As our world faces existential challenges, young people represent our greatest untapped resource for innovative and collaborative problem-solving.

While young leaders like Greta Thunberg make headlines, they represent only a sliver of this generation’s power. Millions more have vision and solutions, but lack the resources to bring their ideas to fruition.

Digital platform

In our digital space, consumers learn exactly where their purchase is going. They also get to discover the stories of other young changemakers, learn about the brand partnership, and deepen their engagement with RIVET.

Our business model is radically transparent, simple and sustainable: RIVET keeps 10% of what is raised to cover our costs, 10% goes to our NGO partners to cover the cost of data tracking and project management.

This means 80% of every brand partnership dollar goes into the hands of young social entrepreneurs.

About the role

10 of 16

Core responsibilities

As the Youth Engagement Coordinator, you will join a passionate and mission-aligned team working to scale RIVET’s vision of becoming the most trusted platform for youth-led social change. Reporting to the Chief Impact Officer (CIO) and collaborating closely with our Director of Donor Engagement , as well as others on the team, you’ll help design, steward, and refine the systems, spaces, and relationships that keep our youth community vibrant, visible, and deeply supported. The key areas of responsibility include:

Relationship & Program Coordination

You’ll be responsible for cultivating and deepening relationships across RIVET’s youth ecosystem — from grant recipients and Discord contributors to young donors. This includes managing and coordinating high-touch and intergenerational engagement experiences like Brain Trusts (where our social innovators get help on a pressing business challenge), Pitch Practices (where social innovators get feedback on their pitch), and community calls (where our Discord members gather to connect and learn together). These moments are more than events — they are relationship-building touchpoints that require thoughtful prep, skilled facilitation, and structured follow-up to ensure youth feel supported, seen, and part of something bigger than themselves.

RIVET Youth Cohorts Stewardship

You will steward RIVET’s two core youth leadership bodies — the RIVET Assembly and youth members of RIVET’s Leadership Council (donors) — ensuring they are onboarded, active, and engaged in decision-making and co-creation. Both groups should not only feel empowered to shape RIVET’s strategy but also function as vibrant, self-sustaining spaces where youth leadership is real and respected. You'll act as the connective tissue between these groups and the wider team, ensuring their contributions are integrated across programs and moments.

Community Building & Discord Management

You’ll lead the growth and vibrancy of RIVET’s Discord community. This is our central hub for youth connection and engagement, and your job will be to make it thrive — through daily rituals, community prompts, event hosting, and moderation that keeps it safe, welcoming, and alive. Your success will be reflected in both the growth of the community and the depth of interaction within it — ensuring our digital spaces mirror the inclusivity, creativity, and energy of the youth we serve.

Who we’re looking for

We recognize that no one candidate will possess every qualification and we welcome candidates from different professional backgrounds who are hungry to transfer relevant experiences to a new field.

  • A natural convener: You’re gifted at bringing people together, both online and offline as well as making spaces feel vibrant, safe, and purposeful. You know how to create momentum, set tone, and hold space for joy, honesty, and transformation. You’re the kind of person who makes others feel like they belong.
  • A communicator with high emotional intelligence: You’re culturally fluent and relational at your core. Whether it’s Discord banter, a 1:1 check-in with a grantee, or a donor event, you intuitively understand tone, timing, and the nuance needed to build lasting trust with diverse international + intergenerational communities.
  • A builder of systems and programs: You thrive in ambiguity and love co-creating systems from scratch. You’re organized, detail-oriented, and can juggle multiple priorities without losing focus on what really matters. You don’t just spark ideas, you see them through to execution.
  • A confident facilitator and event coordinator: You’re comfortable hosting everything from intimate Zoom sessions to large community calls. You know how to prepare a young changemaker for a high-stakes moment, whether it’s a pitch, a donor circle, or a Brain Trust, helping them feel grounded, clear, and ready to shine.

sample projects

Below is a sample of the types of projects you will be working on at RIVET. They are illustrative rather than exhaustive:

Brain Trust & Pitch Practice Facilitation: RIVET hosts intimate coaching spaces like Brain Trusts and Pitch Practices to prepare young changemakers for big moments. You’ll identify strong youth candidates, brief mentors and donors, prep the changemaker with clarity and care, facilitate the session, and collect follow-up reflections a month later to track growth and close the loop.

Discord Community Activation: You’ll host real-time community calls on RIVET’s Discord, co-designed with young changemakers and supported by staff or external guests. These sessions might include AMAs (Ask Me Anything) with experts, youth-led discussions, or campaign activation prompts. You’ll design the flow, promote across channels, moderate the conversation, and synthesize learnings to inform future engagement.

Youth–Donor Relational Stewardship: RIVET is building spaces for younger generations of donors — both for their own reflection, learning, and connection, and as bridges to the broader RIVET community. You’ll organize intentional touchpoints, making sure young donors feel seen, valued, and meaningfully engaged. You’ll help them connect to the people and movements their support fuels, while ensuring youth feel honored and held.

Boost Grant Program Support: As we prepare for the next cycle of Boost Grants—RIVET’s funding program offering $1,000 to $5,000 in support to social innovators, you’ll support onboarding youth grantees, co-designing prep materials, and ensuring a strong program rhythm from start to finish. You may also support cohort communications, feedback loops, and celebrations — helping grantees stay connected to RIVET and each other.

faqs

Q: Can candidates really be based anywhere? Absolutely. Our global team is a key strength. This role, however, will require being able to work with the Chief Impact officer who’s based in Tunisia and our Director of Donor Engagement who’s based in London. Everyone at RIVET commits to being available from 11am to 2pm ET for team meetings and collaboration.

Q: The application portal has questions to answer. How important are those? Very! We screen resumes for relevant work experience and use the open question template instead of standard cover letters because it gives us a much more useful set of information. While we don’t expect you to write volumes we do read the responses to understand more about your experience and how you communicate via writing.

Q: The term “startup” can mean a lot of different things. Where is RIVET in its growth? Still early stage. We have strong frameworks and models and now need to begin implementing and testing. We’ve invested significant time and resources into building the brand partnership side of RIVET and nurturing our youth community. This role is a new hire to strengthen and centralize our youth engagement work. Everything that is awesome about a start-up (opportunity to create, move quickly, iterate, and make an impact) is especially true at RIVET. Same for everything that is hard (lack of systems, creating from scratch, the need to pivot and re-prioritize with new data). Gut-check if this environment is right for you.

Q: What is the culture really like at RIVET? We are a fun and committed team. We invest a great deal in relationships and we lead with gratitude. We are accountable to, and supportive of, each other. As a global and remote team, we create opportunities to bond, while respecting times zones and boundaries.

Q: Do you offer benefits? If so, what kinds? Not yet. We are in the process of defining and securing benefits for the team through a PEO and articulating key policies and procedures for the team. We hope to have these in place by over the next year. We have unlimited time off and people are pretty good at taking what they need to stay healthy and grounded.

Q: There is a lot in this role. What is the focus when I start? The immediate tasks, once hired, will revolve around maintaining our Brain Trusts and Pitch Practices programming as well as growing our Discord Community.
