PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

Programs Requirements:

  • 18 years old (at time of participation) & successfully completed 6 college credits (dual enrollment AP courses count)
  • Good academic standing (min. 2.0 GPA)& in good standing with Student Conduct and Title IX
  • Successfully complete application process including submission of the required documents:
    • Student Conduct Release form
    • Unofficial transcript (Submit Unofficial Transcript from your most recent school if you have not completed at least one semester at SBCC

After Acceptance:

  • Must enroll at SBCC for the term you go abroad (if not already an SBCC student)
  • Must complete and submit legal documentation
  • Must enroll in all courses offered on the program and stay enrolled during the program

  • Short Programs (Summer/ Winter Break) $1,800 - $5,000
  • Semester Programs (Fall or Spring) $5,000 - $12,000
  • Approx. half of the cost of most 4-year university programs!
  • Financial Aid can be applied, SBCC or CA Promise can be used for Tuition & Books
  • SBCC Scholarships and additional Study Abroad Scholarships such as Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship and FEA (Fund for Education Abroad) Scholarships are available for up to $5,000 per scholarship - Apply early!

6 UC campuses offer the Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) program for California community college students who meet specific requirements.

  • UC DAVIS must have a 3.20 GPA

  • UC IRVINE must have a 3.40 GPA

  • UC MERCED must have a 2.80 GPA

  • UC RIVERSIDE must have a 2.80 GPA

  • UC SANTA CRUZ must have a 3.00 GPA

  • If you are applying to transfer to a California State University "CSU" then consider the Associate Degree for Transfer (AD-T) program.

  • ADT may allow an increased chance for admission to a CSU campus; guarantees that you will graduate in 60 units as long as you remain in the major deemed similar to your Associate Degree for Transfer.

  • Know the difference between transferable, non-transferable and articulated courses

  • Many General Education courses can be taken on a PASS/NO PASS basis. The UC system will accept up to 14 units of credit. (Consult with your academic counselor for more info.)
