Now we’re going to compare -5 (negative five) and 3 (positive three).

Like it states above, 3 is obviously bigger because it is a positive number. However, we can also place it on a number line to show that is bigger as well.

-5 is less than 3

Now, let’s compare -3 (negative three) and -2 (negative two).

I placed -3 and -2 on the number line and since -2 is further to the right it is larger than -3.

-3 is less than -2.

Finally, let’s look at -4 and 0.

All negatives are less than 0. Zero is the number in between all positive and negative numbers. Based on the number line shown and knowledge about placement of negative numbers, -4 is less than 0.

Side Note: In the picture, I erased A, B, C, and D in order to not distract you with all of the other letters there. You do not need to erase the other letters.
