Aruna Sen: the main protagonist of the story. A courageous, self-reliant, and mentally resilient IPS officer. She grew up witnessing poverty, domestic abuse, and her mother’s struggles. Fulfilling her mother’s dreams is the central goal of her life. Alongside a strong sense of duty, she carries deep emotion and humanity within her. The beam of a torch is a symbol of her life.

অরুণা সেন: গল্পের প্রধান চরিত্র। একজন সাহসী, আত্মনির্ভর ও মানসিকভাবে দৃঢ় আইপিএস অফিসার। ছোটবেলায় দারিদ্র্য, পারিবারিক অত্যাচার ও মায়ের সংগ্রাম দেখে বড় হয়েছে। মায়ের স্বপ্ন পূরণ করাই তার জীবনের লক্ষ্য। কঠোর দায়িত্ববোধের পাশাপাশি তার ভিতরে রয়েছে গভীর আবেগ ও মানবিকতা। টর্চের আলো তার জীবনের প্রতীক।

কুসুম (মাসি) অরুণার মা এবং গল্পের আবেগের কেন্দ্রবিন্দু। একজন সংগ্রামী গৃহপরিচারিকা, যিনি সমাজের অবহেলা ও স্বামীর অত্যাচার সহ্য করেও মেয়েকে মানুষ করার জন্য লড়াই করেন। সাহসী, আত্মত্যাগী ও মমতাময়ী নারী। তাঁর চরিত্র পুরো গল্পের প্রেরণা।

Kusum (Aunt) Aruna's mother and the emotional core of the story. A resilient domestic worker who fights to raise her daughter despite enduring social neglect and her husband’s abuse. A courageous, self-sacrificing, and nurturing woman. Her character serves as the inspiration for the entire story.

অয়ন মুখার্জি: অরুণার প্রেমিক ও মানসিক শক্তির জায়গা। শান্ত, শিক্ষিত ও আদর্শবাদী যুবক। দুর্নীতির বিরুদ্ধে লড়াই করতে গিয়ে ষড়যন্ত্রের শিকার হয়। অরুণাকে সবসময় সমর্থন করে এবং ক্লাইম্যাক্সে নিজের জীবন বিপন্ন করে তাকে রক্ষা করে। ভালোবাসা ও সততার প্রতীক।

Ayan Mukherjee: Aruna’s partner and her source of emotional strength. A calm, educated, and idealistic young man. While fighting against corruption, he becomes a victim of a conspiracy. He consistently supports Aruna, and in the climax, risks his own life to protect her. A symbol of love and integrity.

হরিপদ: অরুণার বাবা। মদ্যপ ও দায়িত্বহীন ব্যক্তি। সংসার ধ্বংস করে এবং মেয়েকে বিক্রি করার মতো ভয়ংকর কাজ করতে চায়। তার চরিত্র সমাজের অন্ধকার ও নৈতিক পতনের প্রতীক।

Haripada: Aruna’s father. An alcoholic and irresponsible man who destroys his family. He even attempts to sell his own daughter for money. His character represents social darkness, moral collapse, and toxic patriarchy.

জগা হালদার: গল্পের প্রধান ভিলেন। স্থানীয় দুষ্কৃতী ও অপরাধচক্রের নেতা। ক্ষমতা ও টাকার লোভে মানুষের জীবন ধ্বংস করতে দ্বিধা করে না। কুসুমের উপর অত্যাচারকারী এবং ক্লাইম্যাক্সের বড় সংঘর্ষের কেন্দ্রীয় প্রতিপক্ষ।

Jaga Halder: Main antagonist of the story. A ruthless local criminal leader who thrives on corruption, fear, and violence. He was one of the people who tortured Kusum in the past. He becomes Aruna’s ultimate enemy during the climax and represents the evil system Aruna fights against.

নির্মল বাবু: স্কুল শিক্ষক। অরুণার জীবনে পথপ্রদর্শক চরিত্র। কুসুমের মৃত্যুর পর অরুণাকে পড়াশোনা চালিয়ে যেতে সাহায্য করেন। শিক্ষার শক্তির প্রতীক।

Nirmal Babu: A school teacher and mentor figure. After Kusum’s death, he supports Aruna in continuing her education. He represents guidance, wisdom, and the power of education in transforming lives.

লীলা দিদি: এনজিও কর্মী। অরুণার জীবনে সামাজিক সহায়তার প্রতিনিধি। কঠিন সময়ে অরুণাকে মানসিক ও বাস্তব সাহায্য করেন। নারী ক্ষমতায়নের প্রতীক।

Leela Didi: An NGO worker and social support figure. She helps Aruna emotionally and practically during her most difficult phase. She symbolizes social responsibility and women empowerment.
