Sprint Cycle 3: Strong Starts

Celebrations 🎉 🎉 🎉 🎉

  • Overall Positive Classroom Cultures
    • Students greeted with warmth
    • Strong relationship
  • Clear Routines and Efficient Starts
    • Most start at the bell with clear routines
  • Strong Alignment

  • Responsive Teaching
    • Teachers circulate and help students in the moment
    • Teachers adjusting instruction based on what they see as they walk around

47 of 53

Sprint Cycle 3: Strong Starts

Areas for Growth

  • Connecting the start to the Learning Intention
    • Evolving routines so that every warm-up acts as a direct “brain prime” for the day’s lesson, ensuring students are cognitively prepared for new concepts the moment class begins.
  • Making Learning Visible for Every Student
    • To ensure no student is “invisible,” we are striving to move beyond hand-raising and volunteering. By using strategies like turn and talks, whiteboards, and active monitoring, teachers can see the thinking of every child - not just those who volunteer.
  • Increasing Use of Student Talk
    • Developing professional communication skills by providing students with structures and protocols to help them make learn with and from their peers while also having individual accountability for the learning.
