Eugene Rimmel
(mascara)
By Ashlee Naber
Eugene Rimmel was born in 1820 in London, England. Him and his dad started a perfume company and that’s how Eugene decided that he wanted to create a new type of mascara. He died in 1887 when he was 67 years old.
The mascara “Rimmel London” was designed and created by Eugene when he was 24. This makeup is different than other makeup because its safe and works really good. It became popular really quickly, too.
A long time ago, when the Egyptians were alive, they used coal and dirt for make up. Lots of different people created different types of makeup, but none of it was good for your skin, and some was toxic. This wasn’t very sanitary, especially since the “makeup” was made from dirt and coal. Once Eugene Rimmel got a hold of the idea, he made sure the mascara was non-toxic. This was a huge breakthrough because now people (girls and boys) won’t have to worry about getting diseases, thanks to Rimmel.
Rimmel London makeup was created for the people who enjoy wearing it. Not only is there mascara created by Mr. Rimmel, there is also other products such as lipstick, concealer, nail polish, ect.
No one knows exactly when Rimmel’s products were patented, but he was granted 10 Royal Warrants from people such as Queen Elizabeth.
Lots of different types of people all over the world use makeup. Without the clean, healthy products Rimmel has created, people wouldn’t use makeup. So having this eye and face enhancer really comes in handy.
