  • My Smartphone is no longer just a phone in my pocket. It’s a hub for my daily living.
  • It is my calendar, my resource center, a remote control to my Internet of Things (IoT) devices, a “Gameboy” and an instant message center.
  • I can turn off the living room lights or get a reading of my blood pressure.
  • All of this can be done through mobile apps that work the phones embedded sensors and Internet connection.

63 of 64

Summary

  • For years, technology companies have promised the connected home, the connected body and the connected car.
  • But within the last few years the smartphone have provided the mechanism to make the connections.
  • That dream is being made possible through the Smartphone apps and the Internet.
  • That is partly because Smartphones have become the device people never put down.
  • But it is also because the wireless sensors Smartphones use have become smaller, cheaper and ubiquitous.
  • I think Smartphones improve our lives for the better.
