Explore: The Element of Line

Follow these directions to practice using line! You need paper, a pencil, and coloring supplies.

Draw a wavy circle that fills most of the page.

Draw a circle in the center.

Draw a curvy line from the circle to the outside of the bigger shape.

Do the same thing on the other side.

Add a swirly line halfway from the circle to the bottom of the big shape.

Add a jagged line halfway from the circle to the top of the shape.

Draw a curvy line on the right side of the big shape, from the circle down to the swirl.

Draw a straight line halfway from the swirl to the bottom of the big shape.

Add some wavy lines around the whole big shape.

Color four sections of your drawing. One section will be your hair color. One section will be your skin color. One section will be your eye color. One section will be your lip color. You can choose which section is which on your drawing! You are welcome to add more details as well.

Turn the paper whichever way you want and sign your name.

To submit your Explore activity to the Google Classroom...

Enter the Art Google Classroom by clicking on the chalkboard icon at the bottom of your Chromebook.

In the classroom, click on the Classwork tab at the top.

Click on the “Classwork” tab, choose today’s assignment , “Unit 3: Warm Up and Explore”, and click on “View assignment” at the bottom.

To submit your assignment, click on the “Add or create” button, and choose Docs from the drop-down menu.

A blank Google Doc with your name in the title will be generated. Find the Mountain icon and click on it to see the menu.

Once you’ve clicked on the Mountain icon, go down the menu to “Camera.” Click on “Camera.”

Hold your art up in front of the camera, and click on the yellow camera button with your mouse to take the picture.

Once you’ve taken the picture, click on “Insert.”

Your photo will appear in the document.

You can click on it and a blue border will appear. Click on the squares on the blue border with your mouse if you want to make it bigger in the Doc.

Click the gray “Turn In” button in the top right corner.

If it asks you again, click “Turn in” again.
