FRIENDS OF HALEAKALĀ NATIONAL PARK SCHOLARSHIPS
The Friends of Haleakalā National Park is looking for applicants for three scholarship grants of $1,000 each for the 2022-2023 academic year. Successful applicants will be, or already are, studying in a field related to the biology, ecology and/or conservation of ecosystems such as that of Haleakalā National Park. Eligible are Hawai’i residents either graduating from high school this spring and admitted into an accredited college or university, or continuing a college program, within the United States. The application deadline is May 31.
The three scholarships honor the lives and work of Don Reeser, Superintendent of Haleakalā National Park from 1988 to 2005, Mary Evanson, co-founder of the non-profit Friends of Haleakalā National Park (FHNP), and Dr. Fern Duvall, a dedicated advocate for every aspect of the natural environment of Maui.
The Friends of Haleakalā National Park is a non-profit that supports the Park’s mission to preserve and protect Haleakalā's unique ecosystems, scenic character and associated Native Hawaiian culture.

PAID INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITY
The Kekaulike Title III program is offering a paid internship opportunity for Native Hawaiian undergraduates attending UH Maui College and who are interested in transferring to UH Mānoa.
This research-based internship will offer opportunities to work with/within educational programs, library science, and ʻāina based sites. Facilitators will work with accepted students to place and schedule internship sites that best align with their academic goals. Students can earn up to $4,000 in 4 weeks!
Application deadline is May 30th.

NĀ PUA NO‘EAU MAUI SUMMER EVENT
Applications are open for ʻIke Kaʻa: Vehicle Knowledge Summer Institute for students currently in grades 9 through 11 or who hold a Driver's Permit. This one-week, in-person Institute will allow students to learn about vehicle maintenance and care, hands-on experience led by our UHMC Automotive Instructor, as well as huakaʻi and cultural enrichment during our afternoon sessions.
Dates: June 13 – 17
8:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., daily.
Institute takes place on the UHMC Campus. Deadline to apply is Monday, May 23.
