We will NOT be jerks:

• Use “I” statements, and be mindful that I ≠ We.
• Avoid shaming or giving unsolicited advice.
• Remember that language is personal -- a word I might use to describe myself may not be appropriate to describe others, and it may not be appropriate for others to use the word to describe me.
• Pause if someone uses a term that an individual finds offensive, outdated, or loaded, and enter into a conversation about the impact of that word.
• Assume good intentions, and take responsibility for impact.
• Make space for everyone to talk and practice active listening.
• Share our learning while upholding confidentiality.
• Expect and accept non-closure and even some discomfort in our discussions.
