Changes to Public Health Order: Travel Advisory

On Wednesday, December 30, 2020, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health revised the Safer-At-Home orders, including amendments impacting recreational travel.

The revised orders state that any person (child or adult) returning to Los Angeles County from anywhere outside the Southern California Region for non-essential travel after December 30, 2020, must self-quarantine for ten days.

The Southern California Region is defined as the counties of Imperial, Inyo, Los Angeles, Mono, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, San Diego, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura.

The quarantine starts the day of return to LA County and runs for nine additional days, with a return to essential activities outside the home on the eleventh day.

Vaccine FAQ

How many shots are there? Most of the COVID-19 vaccines that are being tested are given in two doses a few weeks apart. It is important to get the same kind of vaccine for both shots.

Will I test positive for COVID after getting vaccine? No. Vaccines won’t cause you to test positive on a viral test (like the swab test) that looks for current COVID-19 infection. You may test positive on some antibody tests.

If I have already had COVID-19, do I still get vaccinated? Yes, you do need the vaccine even if you have had COVID-19. We don’t yet know how long you are protected after you have had COVID-19, so it is important to have the vaccine to strengthen your immunity.

Will students be required to get vaccinated? Da Vinci Schools follows states guidelines for mandated vaccines. At this time, the COVID vaccine is not required, and in fact has not been approved for use in most students. At this time, the Pfizer product, included children down to 16 years of age in their studies, they have been enrolling children down to 12 years of age since October in trials. For the Moderna product, they have launched a 12 to 17-year-old group of individuals to be studied, and they'll have over 3,000 children in that study as well. They hope to have data in early 2021.
