Reviewing Personalized Graduation Report

  • Use this report to guide your course requests for next year
  • Study the subject areas to ensure you are on track to meet all graduation requirements
  • Review the Required (Req), Completed (Comp.) AND Remaining (Rem.) columns. They are important to understand
    • Req = overall needed credits for graduation
    • Comp = number of credits complete as of now
    • Rem = What you have left to do as of now

  • Other important things to review:
  • IP = classes in progress this semester
  • If you have failed a section of a required class, make sure you retake it and include with your course requests for next year.

  • The second page is all the elective credits you have taken up to this point
    • Review the required and remaining credits to make sure you are on track for graduation
  • Review State assessments
    • Passed = you have met the requirement
      • Math = Math
      • ELA = English Language Arts
  • Review Milestone Completion
    • If Washington State History shows as NOT MET include in your class request worksheet and plan to take it the following year
    • If you have questions on the milestones--ASK or EMAIL your school counselor

How to Complete Course Request Worksheet!

  • Make sure your name, email, and phone number are printed legibly
  • Review the core class options and select what works best for you.
  • Make sure all 16 boxes are filled out
    • You will take 8 classes per semester
  • Make sure the course code is the right one for the class you are selecting
  • Choose 4 alternate courses
    • Each box has a suggested subject to help make your choices
    • There is HIGH likelihood that these will end up in your schedule--Pick them carefully
  • Place a ✔ in the PPR column for courses that support your PPR.

  • Review it with your parents and make sure it is signed

Selecting Classes

As a student consider the following:

  • REMEMBER to make sure you to keep your schedule balanced for next year.

  • Consider your level of involvement outside of the classroom.
    • Sports
    • clubs
    • work, etc..

  • Be realistic in assessing your time management ability.

Consider the story your transcript will tell:

  • Take challenging courses

  • Commit to classes for the entire year

  • Take classes that allow you to explore your

interests.

Late Arrival?

  • Seniors are considered for late arrival or early dismissal if they are on track for graduation AND obtain parent permission.

    • Seniors in AVID, College Bound, and athletes are considered on a case-by-case basis

Can I Drop Classes?

Should a class need to change--you can get help in the first 6 days of the semester!

NO

But understand that it needs to happen under the following circumstances:

  • Schedule is NOT complete.
  • Class has been taken before
  • Student does not meet pre-req for class
  • Missing class for graduation
  • Incorrect CORE level placement
    • i.e. wrong math, English, or science class...

Student can request a schedule change in the first 6 days of the semester. But it is NOT GUARANTEED

Running Start

Deadline for Running Start registration is JUNE 12th.

  • 11th and 12th Grade ONLY

  • Must have a 2.25 GPA or better

  • Students take college classes at Skagit Valley College

  • Interested students must attend ONE of the mandatory information sessions:
    • February 27: 6:00 pm @MVHS auditorium
    • March 10 and April 14 or June 9:
      • Time:6:00 PM
      • Where: Skagit Valley College Lewis Hall 204

  • See your counselor for additional questions or visit the SVC website

  • All students must register for a full 2020-2021 academic schedule at MVHS prior to selecting fall quarter courses at the college

  • Classes at MVHS or SVC will be dropped at the start of summer
  • Deadline for Running Start course registration is June 12.

***Students who miss the registration deadline will need to wait until August to complete their late registration (August 2021).
