Spring “I Walk to School” Walking Routes

2 of 8

Walking School Bus Overview & Concept

  • May 8th is the Academy Spring Walk to School Day!!! We often call them “Walking School Buses”.
  • Academy challenges all families for one day to ditch the cars and walk to school using one of our two walking routes.
  • From two different starting points: Legion Field and Essex Street, students, families, and staff will make their way walking through our neighborhoods, making stops, on their way to school.

Why We Do it

  • By using these routes, we are modeling for the children safe and healthy ways to come to school each morning.
  • Besides exercise, it’s a great way for children to connect with other children in their neighborhoods and make their way to school together.
  • There are two “starting stations” where groups will depart. Essex St Soccer Fields & Legion Field. See which one your child would take on the following slides.
