We look forward to seeing you at Back to School Night on Thursday. The first grade session will be held from 7:30-8:00 in your child’s classroom. Since our time will be limited, we are encouraging you to familiarize yourself with the first grade curriculum by viewing these slides. You’ll also be introduced to some of the support programs offered to students here at Barley Sheaf. We’ll be happy to answer any questions you have when we see you Thursday.

Responsive Classroom

and Morning Meeting

We start the day with a Morning Meeting. We gather together to build a sense of community. We greet each other by name, have a sharing opportunity to learn more about each other, and then participate in a game or a team building activity. Finally, the class reads a morning message the teacher has written to them. Again, the purpose of this is to build a classroom community where all children feel safe and like a valued member of our classroom.
