About Laboratory

Without technical drawings, engineering would be a discipline of enormous guess work. Technical drawing allows efficient communication among engineers and can be kept as a record of the planning process. Purpose of studying Engineering graphics are to develop the ability to produce simple engineering drawing and sketches based on current practice, to read manufacturing & construction drawings used in industry, to develop a working knowledge of the layout of plant and equipment, to develop skills in abstracting information schematic diagrams to produce working drawings for manufacturers, installers and fabricators.

An engineering drawing is a subcategory of technical drawings that show the shape, structure, dimensions, tolerances, accuracy and other requirements needed to manufacture a product or part. Engineering drawings are also known as mechanical drawings, manufacturing blueprints and drawings. An engineering drawing helps to define the requirements of an engineering part and conveys the design concept.

About Laboratory

Basic components of engineering drawing- Technical drawings may have different components depending on the industry, the part and the purpose of the drawing.

  1. The students will learn the introduction of Engineering graphics, various equipment used, various scales, dimensions and BIS codes used while making drawings for various streams of engineering disciplines.
  2. The students will learn theory of projections and projection of points.
  3. The students will learn projection of lines and projection of planes.
  4. The students will learn the projection of solid and development of surfaces.
  5. The students will learn sectioning of solid figures.
  6. The students will understand 3D projections. They will have understanding of isometric and oblique projections.
  7. The students will have understanding of perspective projections.
  8. The students will learn computer aided drafting.

List of Computer Aided Drafting Software

Software Package

  1. AUTOCAD
  2. CATIA
  3. Computer Aided Designing and Drafting(CADD)

CADD is an electronic tool that enables us to make quick and accurate drawings. CADD has number of advantages over drawings created on a drawing board. Electronic drawings can be modified quite be represented in a variety of formats. CADD extends its power to yet another branch of engineering called computer aided manufacturing (CAM). CADD and manufacturing program are often integrated into one system called CAD-CAM. This system import CADD drawings into CAM program to automate the manufacturing process. When the design is finalized, the drawings are brought into a CAD-CAM system that uses numerical data from the CADD drawing for actual manufacturing.
