Multiple graphical representations overview

MARC Overview

• MARC records have fields that contain different scripts of other fields, such as one field containing the Latin script, and another containing the Arabic script.
• The scripts are treated as equivalent - they should be searched as equivalent and displayed as equivalent

880s - MARC

• The alternate scripts are stored in 880 fields. These fields also indicate what other field contains the alternate form
• Tag number
• "Occurrence number" - non sequential number to indicate which tag it pairs with
• There may be more than one tag so the occurrence number indicates which of the repeated fields is paired
