Un PHRASAL VERBS es una estructura compuesta de un verbo seguido de una partícula. Estos verbos compuestos transmiten una idea que muchas veces no puede ser traducida literalmente. (look for = buscar / look after = cuidar)
Considerando que los PHRASAL VERBS están compuestos de dos partes, contamos con dos tipos distintos: PHRASAL VERBS (SEPARABLE) y PHRASAL VERBS (INSEPARABLE).
I. PHRASAL VERBS
Los PHRASAL VERBS son estructuras compuestas de un verbo y una partícula. Estos verbos compuestos muchas veces no pueden ser traducidos de manera literal, palabra por palabra.
She broke up with him
Ella rompió con él
I give up. This test is impossible!
Me rindo. ¡Esta evaluación es imposible!
I looked for my cell phone everywhere
Busqué mi celular por todos lados.
