My MICCAI Journey started in 2022..

  • Joined the Brain Tumour Segmentation (BraTS) Team
  • Travel too expensive,
  • Travel award mostly for people from Asia.

.. and in 2023

  • Launched the BraTS-Africa Challenge
  • Got the Travel Award but IRCC says NO
  • Attended virtually

…then MICCAI Comes to Africa in 2024

  • Second year of running BraTS-Africa
  • Got the Travel award
  • Finally met the BraTS team in person

And Now,

  • Third year of running BraTS-Africa
  • Travel award or not, I’m have to get myself to MICCAI
  • MIRASOL and BraTS-Africa co-organizer
  • Co-author on 5 papers, submitted to main conference and workshops

  • Met really awesome people
  • Improved my research

  • Be a participant
    • Not a bench warmer
    • Submit papers
    • Ask questions
    • Contribute
  • Visit each poster stand
  • Strike up conversations, make new friends
  • Explore the city
  • Get good sleep during the night
