About VCU Academic Technologies

Academic Technologies (AT), a unit of Technology Services that delivers, manages and supports core technologies and instructional resources to enhance teaching and learning, student engagement, and promote positive learning outcomes through a variety of instructional approaches.

​

Our Teams:

  • Instructional Computing Services (ICS, formally LCC) deploys, maintains and supports academic computing systems in centrally supported classrooms, as well as Enterprise Term License Agreements (i.e. Adobe, Autodesk), and loaner laptops.
  • Learning Systems (LS) maintains and supports innovative technology systems and applications identified by the University for enhanced course content delivery and increased learner engagement.
  • Media Support Services (MSS):
    • MSS Classroom Support (CS) provides essential audio/visual services to over 170 centrally supported classrooms. Experienced TechSquad team, along with hotline phone numbers help ensure classroom needs are addressed promptly and with minimal disruption.
    • MSS Engineering & Design (E&D) specializes in audio-visual system integrations, including design consultations, project management, and multimedia integration.
    • MSS Video Production and Teleconferencing (VP&T) offers video production services, as well as administration and support for Zoom desktop conferencing for remote instruction and collaboration.

Adobe @ VCU

​

Adobe Creative Cloud is now available to all currently-enrolled VCU students taking at least one credit-bearing course as part of the VCU student software bundle at no additional cost! To take advantage of this offering, students must visit https://go.vcu.edu/adobe/students.

​

Additionally, ALL colleges/schools at VCU have now opted to cover all instructional faculty with Adobe Acrobat DC with the ability to request an upgrade to the full Adobe Creative Cloud suite! To request an upgrade for access to tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premier Pro, and others, please contact your college/school Adobe liaisons. You can find a list of them here: https://go.vcu.edu/adobe/liaisons.

For instructions on how to login, go to https://adobe.vcu.edu/sign-in/. Be sure to use your VCU eID email address in the format “yourEID@vcu.edu”. You cannot use a personal email address or a vcuhealth.org email address.

Canvas @ VCU

Canvas is VCU’s primary learning management system (LMS) and is directly integrated with the University's Banner enrollment system. The LMS is available to everyone within the VCU community who has a valid eID and password.

Kaltura @ VCU

Kaltura is VCU's cloud-based video management and screen capture system that facilitates the conversion and distribution of audio and video formats online.

​

Kaltura is recommended for creating and embedding videos and audio files within your Canvas course(s), and has enhanced functionality to create interactive quizzes and video transcripts. Kaltura is available to all currently enrolled students, and employed faculty and staff.

Zoom @ VCU

​

Zoom is VCU's official desktop conferencing solution used to support remote instruction and collaboration. It is available to all currently enrolled VCU students and/or employed faculty and staff.

​

To secure a license, login with your VCU eID credentials at: https://vcu.zoom.us

  • meet with up to 300 participants, with no time limits
  • share video, audio and computer content
