FUEL FEED SYSTEM IN PETROL ENGINE

• The basic fuel Supply system in a petrol engine consists of a fuel tank, furl line,fuel pump,fuel filters Air cleaners,carburetor and inlet manifold.The system responsible for preparing the correct mixture of air and fuel, and direction this mixture to each of Cylinder is known as “Induction system”.

FUEL TANK

• The face tank holds the fuel for engine it’s imade up of steel or aluminum or synthetic rubber components and fiber rain forced plastic which are flame resistant.
• The tank are coated with lead-tin alloy to protect the tank from the corrsion effect.

FUEL FILTERS

• Fuel filter is placed between petrol feed pump and carburetor.
• A fuel filter is a filter in the fuel line that screens out dirt and rust particles from the fuel, normally made in to cartridges containing a filter paper.
• Filter made up of paper and ceramice element.

FUEL PUMP

• The function of fuel pump is to suc the fuel and supply the fuel to the carburetor with high pressure.
• It is mainly two types
• Mechanical type fuel pump
• Electrical type fuel pump

MECHANICAL TYPE FUEL PUMP

• The two most widely used fuel feed pumps are diaphragm and Plunger type mechanical pumps. Diaphragm pumps are a type of positive displacement pump . Diaphragm pumps contain a pump chamber whose volume is increased or decreased by the flexing of a flexible diaphragm, similar to the action of a piston pump.

• An electrical type fuel pump is used on engines with fuel injection to pump fuel from the gas tank to the injectors . The pump must delivery the fuel under high pressure so the injectors can spray the fuel in to the Engine.

AIR FILTER

• Just as humans need oxygen to breathe, a car needs oxygen for the combination process.The air filter prevent any insects,dust, particles,sand or debris reaching the engine and ensures a good mixture of air and fuel to support performance.

CARBURETOR

• A carburetor is device that mixes air and fuel for international engines in an appropriate air –fuel ratio for combustion.The turm is sometimes colloquially shortened to carb in the UK and North America or to carby in Australia.

ENGINE MANAGEMENT

• The engine management system is the arrangement of the devices for controlling a vehicles engine. If the car is stolen, the unit will block the vehicles engine management system and prevent the engine being restarted.Tje engine management system shuts down four of the eight cylinders when the power isn’t needed.
