  • This is my 26th year of teaching.
  • I have my Bachelor's Degree from Bloomsburg University and my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Wilkes University.
  • I have two children. Makenna is 13, and Zachary is 10. My husband's name is Michael.
  • I love boating, swimming, camping, reading, and spending time with my family and friends.
  • I don’t like shopping unless it is on Amazon or at Target or Kohls.

Interactive

Read-Aloud

  • Students will hear a teacher-read read aloud.
  • The students watch the teacher model reading through example, as well as answer key comprehension questions about the text, in the text, and beyond the text.

Shared Reading

  • Students will listen to their teacher read a big book reading from the shared reading component of our program.
  • Students will be actively engaged in the shared reading process by answering comprehension questions as well as reading along with the teacher at certain times.
  • Students will also be able to reread the shared text using a smaller version of the book and work on extension activities related to the book

Guided Reading

  • Provides a rich variety of leveled texts to use during guided reading time.
  • All guided reading lessons are differentiated and done in small groups.
  • Each guided reading book comes with a variety of questions to ask that are in the text, about the text, and go beyond the text.
  • Guided reading plans come with phonics practice skills as well as grammar skills.

Fundations

  • Students will receive phonics lessons each week as a whole group and in small group guided reading time.
  • Phonics skills will be practiced during literacy centers and guided reading lessons in school or at home during word work time.

  • Students will receive daily instruction on phonemic awareness skills.
  • These skills include: rhyme, phoneme isolation, blending, segmenting, and manipulation.
