How Springdale Schools demonstrates its Ready for Learning Plan

Actions and Assurances

  1. SPS ensures the continuity of teaching and learning by providing a guaranteed and viable curriculum that includes blended learning (6-12) and diagnostic assessments (K-8).�
  2. SPS addresses unfinished learning from the prior year by using HQIM and district developed resources. �
  3. SPS utilizes a Content Management System (CMS).�
  4. SPS schedules teachers to offer face-to-face or virtual classes. Teachers receive training to support these options.�
  5. SPS provides support for parents and students.�
  6. SPS has a written communication plan for interacting with parents, students, and the community.

Safety

The district received a safety grant which will add:

  • Covers / vision panels for all classroom doors.
  • Touch bar exit devices to replace crash bar devices on exterior doors.
  • Security cameras for school 11 campuses. All schools will now have security cameras.
  • Shatter resistant film for glass/window to prevent access to the main entrances and classrooms.
  • Physical barriers to prevent access, including bollards, landscaping, fencing, low walls especially at the main school entrance.
  • Weapon-detection equipment.
  • Vape detectors are being installed in all MS, JH, and HS student restrooms.
  • Radios to standardize communication across the district.

2025-2026 School Calendar

  • The district adopted an academic calendar that includes five make-up days in addition to student-teacher interaction days required by the Standards for Accreditation of Arkansas Public Schools and School Districts established by the State Board of Education, for days unavoidably lost due to exceptional or emergency circumstances resulting from a contagious disease outbreak, inclement weather, or other acts of God.

Teachers and students are not in the same place. Instruction and learning may take place asynchronously and/or synchronously. 11th and 12th grade students have the option to take digital course(s) based on success criteria.

Blended (Hybrid)

Teachers and students are not in the same place. Instruction and learning may take place asynchronously and/or synchronously. This is only for extreme situation approved by a building principals.

Students attend class onsite 5 days a week.

On-site Instruction:

Springdale Public Schools have 178 six-hour instructional days of Teacher-Student Interaction. The first day of school with students is Monday, August 14, 2023, A.C.A. §6-10-106.

Blended:

Students in grades 11 - 12 take onsite classes and up to two classes online. The students are eligible based on a set of criteria, program of study needs, and availability of classes.

Remote:

Students learn from home based on an approved situation.

Students enroll at DTSOI and learn from home 5 days a week.

Virtual students enroll at DTSOI to participate in a virtual option.

DTSOI are not included in these waivers as they have Charter School Waivers.

Maintaining healthy facilities-

SPS will ensure the safety of all students and staff by maintaining healthy facilities. SPS will follow all health guidelines and any changes directed by the state government and the Arkansas Department of Health.

Accommodations

SPS will ensure that accommodations for children with a disability with respect to health and safety policies.

SPS will keep current with new training guidelines regarding the health and safety of special needs students in their educational setting. SPS will follow all health guidelines and implement all changes directed by the state government and the Arkansas Department of Health to ensure that all students can learn in their least restrictive environment as determined by their parent or guardian and their IEP team.

Social Emotional Support for Families and Students

Supports

  • Springdale Teachers receive professional development on Behavior Supports and Executive Functions offered by OGC/Arisa outlining expected student behavior and ways to support student needs.
  • All schools created school norms and support systems.
  • Elementary and middle school counselors facilitate the back to school behavior supports.
  • SPS offers information about options and resources available to teachers and families through the school and community.
  • Recorded instruction for SEL lessons are also pushed out to parents. Counselors publish an assistance request form that parents or students can complete to express needs.

Communications

SPSs communicates with parents, students, and the community regarding school expectations. Communication is available in multiple languages.

Communication occurs regularly and promptly at the district and building levels.

Video messages may accompany announcements in each phase in an attempt to support clear explanation and understanding of the plan components and how it affects everyone involved.

District Communication Timeline and Methods

District communication methods include but are not limited to videos, social media, website, texts, phone calls, and Zoom or Google Meet meetings, Google Form surveys, and face-to-face communication with guidelines. Information is disseminated via the methods above as well as through community leaders, civic and religious leaders, business and industry partners, local media, and digital signing. The Springdale Schools Communications Department supports the delivery of content.
