WHY WE CARE
Food allergy as a condition is not taken as seriously as should be in the current times. Various people ignore the consequences of allergy, believing that it won’t be that serious. While the global community is still in the process of studying the implications this allergy can have on an individual, there are steps that a person can take about keeping himself from knowing those by keeping his diet in check.
�Not taking any medical condition seriously is a mistake that so many people make which might lead to severe illness and conditions that can cause permanent damage to the health of the individual.

PROBLEM STATEMENT
Food allergies are common conditions which occur due to selective intolerance towards certain ingredients or allergens.
If you are among the nearly 500 million people around the world living with a food allergy, odds are that you think twice about everything you eat. Small skin rashes and throat aches to hospitalization, allergies can have serious consequences. In the US alone, food allergies are responsible for about 30,000 anaphylactic episodes per year. The severe reactions aren’t always triggered just from ingestion, but also from skin contact or inhalation. That can make your allergen incredibly hard to avoid.

Palatio is an attempt to make the life of people with food allergies easier and aid them in being proactive about their food intake right at the checkout counter.
The website allows the user to upload images of the ingredients section of their product, and after cross referencing with our data, we alert the user to the ingredients that may lead to certain allergies. Further, users can add their pre-existing allergies to the interactive UI, based on which we return what ingredients may be harmful to them.
Working on a strong dataset and progressive data collection, Palatio has a robust database of over 200 unique food items, classified by type, group and class, corresponding to their respective allergies.
The input image is put through Tesseract, and the text extracted is cross referenced with the database to provide a comprehensive list of allergies caused by the allergens present in the ingredients. Altogether, Palatio utilizes Google Colab, Python, Google Firebase, Bootstrap, JavaScript, Google Cloud Storage and more.

BUSINESS PLAN
Partner with allergy clinics to provide a guiding medium to the patients who visit their hospitals. This will help achieve reach and aid the people who need this the most.
Collaborate with food delivery companies like Zomato, Uber Eats and Swiggy, where we provide the allergy alert for the ingredients of the dishes being ordered by users.
Various companies create products specifically for people with allergies to soy, milk, etc. We will look to be their advertising medium and might possibly scale to be the selling medium with the necessary resources.
FUTURE ASPECTS
Convert and build a mobile friendly platform that facilitates data transfers to reach and consequently aid a wider audience with the coming time.
Add a dishes section to provide alternatives to ingredients that a person is allergic to in his favorite dish, so that he does not have to stop eating his that item entirely.
Add another section for people following certain diet plans, from veganism to keto diets, to provide them with the data to build and maintain the perfect diet in accordance to his/her food intolerance or allergy.
