In 2020 Amazon wanted to showcase the best from the UK Black diaspora (UK Rap, R&B, Grime, Drill, Caribbean Sounds and Afrobeats).

As a new platform, they had to establish their authority and fight for credibility alongside media institutions, grassroots platforms and DSPs.�

Our Solution

Position +44 as fans (not dictators) of the culture, collaborate with relevant talent, focus on alternative storytelling, showcase the popularity of new genres, create thumb-stopping content, and strike a balance between A-Listers and rising talent to engage macro fanbases and micro communities alike.

To showcase and celebrate the rich legacy of Black British music without speaking for or on behalf of content partners and organisations. To ensure authentic and accurate representation.

Our Solution

Produce a visually-engaging trailer to position Union Black among target audiences; create a social and content strategy that decentralised content ownership among content partners, Google and YouTube; develop a playbook to ensure cohesive key messaging and signposting.

In a crowded and territorial music streaming landscape, position BBC Sounds and 1Xtra as the no.1 destination for ‘old school’ R&B and Hip-Hop via the 1Xtra Throwbacks (1XTB) sub-brand and attract audiences on-air and via the BBC Sounds app.

Our Solution

Create bespoke social strategy playbook and visual toolkit for in-house team, focus on evoking nostalgic joy through fun and engaging formats, produce talent shoot with 1XTB presenter talent Keke and Joelah Noble.

Conduct extensive research on how other UK music platforms operate on TikTok to identify trends and opportunities, create a

strategic roadmap for the soft-launch of the new channel, create a content playbook for in-house teams to take over implementation, focus on a blend of 1Xtra’s rich heritage content

alongside new content.

With only a few weeks lead time before the live streaming of their collab event ‘Less Buzz, More Music’ (exploring the role of globalisation in modern music), Trippin x Tommy needed a social strategy to raise awareness of the YouTube live stream and drive pre-event sign-ups.

Our Solution

Create and execute an Instagram paid ads strategy focused on targeting talent followers in Stories and in Feed with dynamic and enticing creative, and retarget visitors to the pre-event link who didn’t complete signup process.

The Wins

  • Achieved 243K link clicks from Instagram to the YouTube livestream pre- and during event.
