About the Course ….

• This course examines the world’s natural and human-made disasters
• How and why do these natural disasters happen (tornadoes, earthquakes, hurricanes, droughts, etc)?
• How and why do human-made disasters happen (oil spills, nuclear meltdowns, greenhouse gases, etc)?
• How can humans mitigate (reduce) these impacts on our earth?
• What solutions are there?

Prerequisite:

Pass grade 9 Geography

• This course satisfies the Group 1 Requirement of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (ie: one of your 18 compulsory courses)

OR….

• This course satisfies the optional credit requirements of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (ie: one of your 12 “elective credits”)

CGW4UI - World Issues

Grade 12

• This course examines popular current events and examines them through a Geographic perspective.
• What are the global threats we face today?
• How can we make a more equitable and sustainable world?
• How can Canada help stabilize these issues and be part of global solutions?

Prerequisite:

Any gr. 11 or 12 university or mixed course in English, Social sciences (geo, history), or humanities (family studies)

• This course satisfies the Group 1 Requirement of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (ie: one of your 18 compulsory courses)

OR….

• This course satisfies the optional credit requirements of the Ontario Secondary School Diploma (ie: one of your 12 “elective credits”)
