The United for Warm Homes campaign�

United for Warm Homes is a campaign driven by community groups across England, Wales and Northern Ireland who believe everyone deserves a warm home.

However, our broken energy system means millions are dealing with sky high energy bills, whilst energy companies make billions in profit.

These groups, supported by Friends of the Earth, are calling for:

Urgent support for people dealing with sky-high energy bills.
A new emergency programme to insulate our heat-leaking homes.
An energy system powered by cheap, green renewables.

The United for Warm Homes Day of Action

On 18 November communities will come together to call for warm homes for all as part of a nationwide Day of Action.

This is our chance to show MPs that our communities urgently need warm homes as we head into another expensive winter.

If we want our politicians to take action, we need them to feel the pressure.

This pack has lots of ideas for how you can support the Day of Action, and show MPs that our communities are united for warm homes.

There are three simple ways to get involved in the Day of Action:

Link up with your local event or Warm Homes group.�
Share the campaign on social media, in the local press, and with your MP.�
Run your own Day of Action activity (big or small).

One of the easiest ways to support the United for Warm Homes Day of Action is to check if there is already an event planned near you that you can join.

Have a look at our list of groups running a Day of Action event and contact any local to you to find out how you can get involved.

Spread the word about the campaign to engage your community and make sure your local MP hears our call for warm homes.

Share your support for the campaign on social media. Especially on the Day of Action on 18 November. See our template social media posts below. �
Get local media coverage. Use our template letter to newspaper editors to get the campaign covered in your local press.�
Write to your MP about the campaign. Use our template letter and template MP briefing to ensure your MP hears about the campaign and commits to action.

Make sure to add why it matters to your organisation or group and the communities you represent.

Share the campaign with your local community

Take a campaign photo with your community. Print or order free campaign posters and placards and take a photo with them at one of your events to show your support for the campaign. Share it on social media on the Day of Action (18 November) or include it in a press release or letter to your MP.

Create a United for Warm Homes community quilt. For the Day of Action, Warm Homes groups will be creating patchwork quilts with messages showing why they want warm homes for all. You could do simple version of this at one of your events or meetings by creating a paper patchwork quilt of messages. Have a look at our guide to making a quilt - and scroll down for tips on making a paper version. This is a lovely craft activity to do with your community, whilst also calling for change. You can then share images of the quilt on social media, display it in your community, or even send it to your MP. ��

Our campaign won’t stop after the Day of Action. In fact, we’ll be continuing to build momentum to put pressure on our politicians ahead of next year’s general election.
